VW of America boss admits fixing affected diesel cars will hamper performance; blames engineers
A centrally controlled company would let a "couple" of engineers make such a huge decision? Bernd Pischetsrieder was removed because he discovered VW's Diesel Technology didn't work and wanted to use to use M&B's. There is no truth in their engineering.

Next-generation Volkswagen Phaeton reportedly safe from being cut
In a centrally controlled company? After spending billons of Euros - Yes, the board would know if not using this technology would cancel the use of this motor. VW based their entire diesel marketing strategy on this engines technology. The entire board and CEO would know and approve its use.

Martin Winterkorn could get $32 million pension following resignation
This is hush money. Any one that thinks the CEO of VAG didn't know of this is fooling them selves. VAG based their corperate strategy on tdi Diesel engines.Volkswagen and Audi boasted about their engine technology in a centraly controled company the Corporate CEO had to know of the defeat device and signed off on its use. A vast amount of engineering time had to be devoted to designing these engines and when they found out it couldn't work it must have caused anger to the very top of VAG. Ferdinand Piech is the one truly responsible and should be held accountable.

General Motors refused Sergio Marchionne's merger proposal with FCA
Businesses should merge for the right reasons, they should commpliment each other by not requiring a large amount of restructuring. With a GM/FCA merger this is not the case. Ferrari, Jeep, Ram and New Holand would be a good fit with GM, but Fiat, Chrysler and Dodge are redundant. This means a big cut back in people and facilities.

General Motors refused Sergio Marchionne's merger proposal with FCA
Fiat is ranked dead last in reliability. Italian labor is militant and the Italian government will never allow any changes to the work force. GM was burned for a billion dollars by Fiat and they need to stay away from this ticking time bomb of a company.
