2013 Opel / Vauxhall Astra hits the Nurburgring
ssllaasshh, it dues to Opel's old platform, when the new one which is co-developed with PSA comes to our road later in 2015, expect 100-150kg weight saving. At the moment Opel extents life-cycle of their heavily modified platform for the sake of not making their financial statement even more depressing. DSG would truly be a benefit and GM is on their way, but 8speed torque-converter would do just fine, Merc, Jaguar and BMW prove it. However I have to agree with the new OPC, it weights as much as 335i or 528i and both are auto, 4dr, turbocharged and substantially offer more room.

Lincoln to focus on mainstream models, has no plans for a flagship - report
Then why does it not affect BMW with their much uglier nostril (it resembles more of nostril than kidney) grill? It simply, Ford people at Lincoln just had no idea and slapped the grill to give it a Lincoln identity... I think Lincoln more as Volvo, Citroen DS, Acura and Alfa Romeo competitor than Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Infinity and MB

Porsche Panamera wagon concept confirmed for Paris Motor Show
Nothing to dislike if it it Porsche, they always manages to amaze me with their class leading cars. next gen RS6 avant could be faster in straight line, but Panamera wagon Turbo will catch it just after the braking point.

2013 Lincoln MKZ pricing announced (US)
Could be the case Lincoln places their rain and light sensor elsewhere, the joint is particularly required only for the cable to connect with the main computer (some cars have memory function for rear view mirror too).

BMW ActiveHybrid 3 goes 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds [videos]
Would you think a car is weight at your regular RC? It is 1700kg metal. At this rate, battery tech needs to vastly improve. Paired that hybrid tech with 2.0l turbo petrol/diesel sounds a lot making more sense, less weight means better electricity drive range.

2013 Chevrolet Malibu pricing announced (US)
hi pzxpjy, yah I know that cars sold in China at 200% of normal price in Europe. But never know that Malibu can be sold at that exceptional price, then it goes even lower than the small Buick sedan. Though it is possible that the car is sourced from South Korea, it is hard to import car and sell it at cheaper price than is in domestic market.

Toyota to launch TMG performance sub-brand - report
And by your genius, M division is an AMG without A and G then? Still, they can't beat Infinity for the lamest name, IPL, it sound like an institue, an Indian league, a medicine and not related to car.

It is called customer bargaining power and adds low tax, it makes it happens. Still manufacturers will recoup their low margin from servicing

2013 Acura RLX revealed in patent photos
Well it uses platform for future Honda Legend, practically it is a longer wheelbase Accord with bits and pieces modification. I have to agree with Kakumbaz, you are right, while Infinity and Lexus have gained momentum, Acura is still sleeping. Honda needs to give this brand more love (money for R&D) and freedom (don't have to source its interior design from related Honda models but design their own ).

2013 Mercedes ML 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY revealed
It is a petrol engine, look at the torque figure, a regular 3.0l diesel produces torque between 500-600 Nm, and if it is a 4.7l diesel, it should crack 700-800Nm. I never hear Merc has V8 diesel as well. I guess it is the same engine that could be found under E500 and S500, though little bit detuned for efficiency, hence only makes 408hp instead of 430hp. The 5.5l turbo V8 is reserved for AMG series only, including M63 AMG.

2013 BMW ALPINA B7 facelift revealed
True, but some people still ignore its existence and keep whining for M7. Maybe because it is rather difficult to get Alpina, it doesnt have many dealers (though it is serviceable in BMW garage like Rolls Royce) and the waiting is longer than normal BMW

2013 Audi SQ5 TDI unveiled [videos]
I guess, it is the torque because I am yet to see dual-clutch tranny being applied in any performance oriented cars within VW group that has torque above 500Nm. Even R8 uses R-tronic, Lamborghini cars are yet to have DSG as well. It looks like VW only builds (or sources) their DSG for standard uses of car, because DSG's weakness is its weight and it requires heavy modification to make it handles higher performance uses.

2013 Audi SQ5 TDI unveiled [videos]
Pug does it for 3008 HY and 508 RXH. Only they aren't tuned for performance and offered with ECG only. This S Q5 will certainly be a beast with its bizarre 650 Nm. No car in this segment can compete with the for rings. Personally I also prefer this diesel compared to V6 TFSI and happy to see Audi is doing so, because it simply has 50% more torque.

2013 Audi SQ5 TDI unveiled [videos]
Yah that was in my mind too, Q5 S would be a better name. BMW solved naming problem for M X5 by placing M behind the series for it and also for future X-series M version. Audi will have to consider that practice to avoid public misconception.

Ford Focus RS getting 330hp - report
At the time, Focus RS will come out (looking at the mixed report, it will be long-long time in the future, i.e 2-4years), 330hp obviously won't look very much considering new A-Class AMG will have around 315-335hp and same goes to M135i with 320hp. Future Golf-R will also be likely to score at 300hp by borrowing engine from future S3 (and RS3 with near to 400hp).

BMW opens i store, shows off updated i3 and i Pedelec concepts
If all manufacturers build supercars, that would be cool, but they will follow Saab soon. They will do it once in a time, however only after they can afford to recoup the lost through publicity, if BMW didn't do well in early 2000s, obviously they will follow Audi to release mid engine supercar as halo model. While, time has never been good when BMW decided to make something great, either a financial problem (1990s and 2008) or no established resources to develop it.

All-new 2013 Chevrolet Spin MPV teaser spoiled by spy photos
Is it within same size as Ford B-Max and Meriva? Because I recall, B-Max will also be offered with usual 6sp AT (torque converter or dual clutch), then that statement would need a revision.

BMW M6 to get a manual transmission - report
Shumy, I agree with you, 6-series is a big car for cruising with occasionally can be brute. A manual doesn't look sensible for this sort of car and it won't help to emphasize image of driver cars, because it is too heavy.

BMW M6 to get a manual transmission - report
Sadly SL600 and Cl600 is no longer in the market, I think you mean Sl 65 and CL 65. Both cars are good and I love V12, but they sell so slow and BMW might have think for that before, but that engine will put 6-series to weight even more. Those V12s employed in modern car, actually isn't modern at all, it is the same old engine with few modification and usually added one or a pair of turbo. The R&D cost won't justify it, except if you want a flameable V12 like those in Ferrari.

BMW M6 to get a manual transmission - report
Actually that is an old belief, and that belief is the one that causes American customer to stick with manual when it comes to sport and exotic cars. Though that's true during 80s and early 2000s, it is no longer relevant to current automotive industry, now everybody could have class leading 6-8spd AT made by ZF which is so slick and can be fine tuned very well. Next generation Chrysler even will get 9spd AT and they will also adopt dual clutch technology from Fiat (though it is not the best yet, except one made for Ferrari).

Volvo considering a C90 luxury coupe - report
Still irritating to hear E-class coupe and convertible within same sentence with A5 coupe/convertible and 4-series coupe/convertible. Because at the same time, Merc has C-class coupe and presumably a convertible as well when new C-class rolled up in 2014. Well, replacing C70 with C90 might be something good for Volvo, at the moment they are known for premium for money, A S60 undercuts the Germans by almost $10,000 in Down Under, while still offering good equipment level, same goes for XC60 which sits price of Q3 and X1 while sized for Q5 and X3. Personally, I love their out and in design too, their job is only to ditch 6spd geartrak to 8spd ZF.
