2016 Land Rover Discovery 5 / LR5 details emerge
They only use those in North America and I am not sure why. For Europe it's much simpler: Defender, Freelander 2, Evoque, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover. This story makes sense by the way. Now RR is an established sub brand it's sensible to position LR as more utilitarian to keep the grass roots buyers sweet and give the LandCrusier some competition.

MG working on a deal to acquire a GM platform - report
On what basis do you make that statement? To be fair, foreigners interpration of "British" has always tended to be the same, like the inside of a gentleman's club, but Jaguar is breaking the mould now and even Rolls-Royce puts an interesting spin on it.

Bristol Cars goes into administration
And where did you collect you information on Bristol not looking after owners of its cars? Please share. I've owned TVRs and Bristols so this is a subject I know something about.

Bristol Cars goes into administration
A very strange post. The Bristol Aeroplane Company found itself with a bit less to do once the war was over so as part of war reparations -- the Nazis had done some beastly things and dumped a fair few bombs around the factory -- were given some BMW designs. I'm assuming you think Adolf just got bad press?

Aston Martin unveils AMR-One race car
Yep it's a straight six which could make it to the road cars. Defined I'd guess!

Ferrari 612 Shooting Brake interior spied plus new rendering
Hope it looks better than the rendering. Shooting Break's an interesting idea. Hoping this model can break away from the 599's shadow.

MINI Cooper SD scheduled for Geneva debut - report
It will use a BMW 2.0 apparently. And you can bet we'll see it in the Clubman, Countryman and Paceman too.

Daihatsu to withdraw from Europe
Charade GTi and Fourtrak. That was Daihatsu's heyday. It all went south when they canned those. Now they are just Toyotas without the service support.

2012 Ford Focus Electric revealed [video]
The iPhone app images seem to suggest a 100 miles range, although we all know that these can vary wildly dependent on driving style and conditions. Range anxiety is still going to be an issue even with a nifty satnav app that also factors in charging levels, just because if you get caught short you have a wait of a couple of hours for enought charge to continue.

Mopar previews 2012 Fiat 500 and Chrysler 200 for Detroit
Nothing but a wrecking ball would make the 200 look good, but I like the Mopar 500. Riding too high though. Mopar parts have been used on other marques for years. Chrysler engines have been powering other cars since the 1960s with Mopar parts added to them.

WCF launches Facebook integration
Smart move guys. Single sign on is the way of the future. This will not only increase uptake but help people to comment when they return. Good work!

Lotus Renault GP team announced
Good point. I guess that deal dies with renault no longer being team shareholder. Now Genii and Lotus call the shots and that doesn't mean doing any favours for Renault's Russian subsidiary (which Lada practically is). Car looks neat. I hope this naming nonsense can be sorted out.

F1 agrees to push ahead with new engines in 2013
I'm not too sure what is radical about this. One of F1s most exciting periods was the 80s when the crs had 1.5 litre turbos. Many real world car manufacturers are moving towards small idsplacement charge fed engines to replace larger capacity engines, so F1 moving in that direction will hopefully help the technology progress and encourge the use of more efficeint engines in all cars.

De Tomaso SLC teasers images surface - debut in Geneva?
Did it? I thought it had Ford V8s in production. I saw a UK-registered one at Le Man a couple of years ago. I'd love to see De Tomaso back, but that thing at the top looks like an Infiniti or something from anywhere else than Modena.

GM's new Baojun 630 revealed for China
And the Excelle is based on the new Astra. That's quite an impressive platform for such a cheap car. GM now seels more cars in China than it does in the US.

False reports - Bernie Ecclestone robbed of $300,000 in London attack
As easy as it is to knock Bernie (no pun intended), you have to admire his spirit. He's not done badly for a trawlerman's son.

Chevrolet Volt gets 60 MPG EPA rating
93MPG in electric only mode? You mean when not consuming any petroleum at all? So they are referring to gallons of what excatly? Air? Yes, yes, I get that they value an amount of stored eclectricity to be the same as a gallon of fuel, but surely that's going to confuse people more than help them. Possibly the way forward is stats like: - cost per 10 miles of town driving - cost per 100 miles of highway driving

Petrov reveals Alonso fans defaced website
Alonso has some weird fans. First the "Hamilton's Family" rubbish and now them hurling abuse because Petrov wouldn't bend over and hand Alonso the title. If anyone deserved it more than Vettel this year it was Webber. Alonso is way down my list of worthy champions.

Audi Quattro confirmed for production?
I like this car. I hope the reality will match the skin though. All bulging wheelarches, ducts and no go would be very disappointing.

Porsche Panamera diesel confirmed for production
From what I remember the V10 has been killed off by Euro 5 or something. And there is no way it will cost less than the V6 petrol. Name one manufacturer that prices the diesel version of two similarly powered cars cheaper?

Honda developing new NSX, again - report
I totally agree. The original changed the supercar landscape forever. Before it came along supercars were all hard to drive, expensive to maintain, unreliable, temperamental beasts that only real enthusiasts bought. Honda showed you could make gorgeous, fast and exclusive sit alongside something that was as easy to live with day to day as a Civic and had quality on a par if not exceeding mass produced cars. It turned Ferrari, Lamborghini and to some degree Porsche into the companies (and cars) they are today. Basing the new one on the Accord? Pah!

Bentley Continental GT Speed Elegance edition by Anderson Germany
Reminds me of a special the Italian importer for Bentley did on the 90s Bentley Continental T (I think) which was stripped to a race feel and two of the headlights removed for "speed holes". Looked great. I'd love to see a hardcore Bentley like that again.

Alonso gestures showed 'bad education' - Petrov
Nope, Alonso not doing the job when he was required to, even though he had Massa helping him out in a way unseen in Red Bull or McLaren, was what led to him losing the title.
