Standard and Long Version

The French car maker Citroen is about to prepare the launch of the all new Citroen Picasso II.

Citroen’s Picasso made its first appearance to the public at the Paris Motor Show back in 1998. It became a top seller for the French car maker over the years, particularly in France, Italy and Spain.

Now Citroen is preparing its replacement, the next Picasso II for release in autumn 2006. However, this time the Picasso will not only be available in one version like the current car. Instead, Citroen will add a long version that can seat up to seven passengers, similar to the competition models VW Touran, Opel Zafira or Renault Scenic. The long-version dubbed Picasso “long” or “grand” is said to boost an overall length of 4,52 meters, meaning it grows by 24 cm in length compared to the current five-seater model. While the styling of the new model range adapts the major characteristics of its predecessor, it will be bigger and offer more high tech and comfort. Windscreen as well as side- and rear windows are much larger. The overall length of the short-version grows by about 12 cm. With this the Picasso II will also get more powerful engines, such as the new 2,2 litre HDi, 170 HP plus two fuel engines.
