Press Release

A year ago, Peugeot launched the 207 in France and into the main European markets. It became the fourth vehicle to be offered by Peugeot in the European small car market segment, along side the 107, the 1007 and the 206. Today, the 207 SW with its “spirit of the outdoors” completes the 207 range.

A rapidly expanding range

The 207 SW, which will be available from 5th July in certain markets, will rapidly expand further the 207 range, which a mere 15 months ago saw the launch of the hatchback. This compares with 40 months for the introduction of the 206 SW into the 206 range.

Like the 207 CC, 207 RC and the three and five door hatchbacks launched previously, this new silhouette will strengthens further the 207 range.

Now ready to take on the challenge, the 207 SW will follow in the footsteps of the 206 SW, which became the best selling estate car in the French and European B2 segment from its first year of introduction (2003). Benefiting from a real generational leap compared with the 206 SW, the 207 SW will expand the target customer base with a number of new features.

Peugeot’s ambitions for the 207 SW Sales:

In 2008, the first full year, the 207 SW should represent 98 000 units, i.e. 18% of the total sales of all 207 models.

The petrol/diesel mix should be:

Production site

The 207 SW will only be produced at the POISSY manufacturing site, which has a capacity to produce 460 units a day. Production of the 206 SW ended in January 2006.

Commercial launches

The 207 SW will be launched on the 5th July 2007 in France, Great Britain, Italy, Spain and Portugal, and available in Germany from 12th July. The other European markets will launch the vehicle in September.

It will enter a market which is still increasing. Between 2000 and 2006, the B2 market segment continued to grow, increasing from 26.2% of the total European market to 30.5%. The model mix, however, has changed considerably during this time. The hatchback models have decreased from 95% of the B2 segment in 2000 to 82.4% in 2006; whereas the people carrier models have increased

from 1.8% to 12%, cabriolets from 0.1% to 2.8% and estates remaining stable around 3%, with only a slight rise to 3.6% in 2004.

207 SW - A versatile and practical option …

The 207 continues to grow at a prolific rate, an indication of the high desirability of the range. After the 3 and 5 door hatchback and the coupé cabriolet, we now have the SW.

Each of these different silhouettes – combine the strengths of the 207 design - but each have their own individual personality.

The SW silhouette will complete the 207 range, just 15 months after the appearance of the hatchback, whereas four years had elapsed between the launch of the 206 hatchback and the SW version.

The new 207 SW, one and both at the same time:

207 - identified by its strong lines and dynamic character, but still benefiting from the exactness of its design and the evident quality feel of the car. “SW” - two letters which, for Peugeot, express space, light and well being, thanks to the glass panoramic roof, modularity and practicality, all contained within a well proportioned, stylish design.

Its environment, its potential customers In a market characterised by increasing fragmentation of the individual models, the 207 SW aims to attract a customer base that leads a “full and busy life” and who will appreciate the space and versatility of this compact vehicle. Keen on outdoor leisure pursuits, these customers – ranging from young families to those in active retirement – are out going and enjoy social interaction … but, above all, they like to get out and about! When it comes to choosing a vehicle, the design and personality of the vehicle are important factors.

Even more 207 in a 207 …

The 207 SW guarantees potential customers all the recognised qualities of the 207 but, with an added “+” to meet their specific expectations:

Very precise road holding …

The suspension and power steering have all been adapted to this new silhouette and the potential greater rear loads it can carry. Just like the 207 hatchback, this vehicle has very high primary safety, combined with carefully designed secondary and tertiary safety.

A desirable place to be …

Brightness, temperature and acoustic comfort – even an inbuilt air freshener in some versions, the 207 SW is very welcoming and comfortable place for its occupants. Its numerous storage areas, in-car-entertainment and RT4 system (available in a few weeks) create a desirable place to be.

In the near future …

Full of ambition, the 207 SW will make every effort to enlarge its potential customer base with a truly rich and diverse range:
