The Society substantiated having chosen the Carrera GT stating that Porsche "had impressively demonstrated the tremendous future for the use of plastics, not only in high-performance sports cars, but throughout the entire automotive industry".
With the Carrera GT, which is limited to 1,500 vehicles, the Stuttgart-based automotive manufacturer demonstrated the technical possibilities that exist today in vehicle construction. The Carrera also offers a glimpse of future Porsche technologies. The 612 HP high-performance sports car is produced in the Porsche plant in Leipzig. With an unladen weight of just 1,380 kg, the Carrera GT can rocket from 0 to 200 km/h in just 9.9 seconds.
