Best Gasoline Car in ADAC-EcoTest 2004
The Opel Signum 2.2 DIRECT is the most environmentally compatible gasoline car in this year's ADAC-EcoTest. The Signum with the 2.2 liter gasoline direct injection engine came in first with 79 points. Another success was the Opel Vectra 1.8 (77 points), which took the silver medal among gasoline-fueled cars. Opel's victory this year follows the Corsa ECO's number 1 finish in the small car segment last year.
The EcoTest, carried out by the ADAC on behalf of the FIA Foundation for the second time, tested 113 vehicles in the micro cars, small cars, lower mid-sized cars (compact cars), mid-size cars, upper mid-sized cars and luxury cars categories. The highest possible rating was 90 points or 5 stars. Signum and Vectra earned themselves 4 stars each. The Corsa ECO reached 5 stars in 2003.
The Signum owes its victory in the gasoline category to Opel's first direct injection gasoline engine. The 2.2 DIRECT ECOTEC, with a power output of 114 kW (155 hp), needs only 8.1 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The Signum also shines with its trendsetting vehicle concept, its exceptional spaciousness and its uniquely versatile FlexSpace interior.
The Signum and all models in the Vectra range are now also available with two new 1.9 CDTI ECOTEC engines, generating 88 kW (120 hp) and 110 kW (150 hp). Both engines meet Euro 4 emission standards and can be equipped with a maintenance and additive-free diesel particulate filter (DPF).
