The prospects of a smaller MINI city car hitting our streets looked pretty bleak when company bigwigs axed the production version of the Rocketman Concept. The unfortunate action was caused by the difficulties in handling, stability and crash performance which would have resulted in over-the-top development costs.

However, it is easy to assume that the MINI range will one day be expanded with a strong possibility of a new entry level model getting the green light, and here is a speculative render for you to feast your eyes upon. It was completed by Sonny Lim, a former Senior Designer at BMWDesignworksUSA and features dimensions that sit in between the canceled Rocketman concept and the MINI One.

Lim describes the MINI Zero Concept as a spiritual successor to the classic Mini. It features a simple design with few design lines and fancy chrome inserts and is intended to weigh as little as 840kg (1852 lbs).

It looks very simple, but then again, that's how a Mini is supposed to be so I like it.

That's AWESOME! If this speculative rendering proves true and there would be intentions of production, this would be an awesome futuristic little MINI that will finally live up to the MINI name, considering it's size.

Like the design , a lot. But if smaller than a "regular" Mini, will it be the size of a Smart?
