As a German car enthusiast myself, I understand American cars have a different driving dynamic, however, people like cars that are different and beyond the reach of average car buyers. There are plenty of wealthy older men with Cadillac brand loyalty, perhaps even some driving a Mercedes, who would consider buying it because there is nothing quite like it in production. The Maybach concept coupe, the only really comprabable vehicle albeit superior, is not considered for production. Even if the car breaks even or loses money it raises the perceived luxury of the entire brand.
