Toyota FT-86 leaked?
October 27, 2011
Looks like a 370Z with a bad nose job, to me.
Chevrolet Silverado Realtree concept teased for SEMA [video]

This could be the dumbest idea yet for SEMA, and this isn't an easy crown to capture. I live in Montana, I work for a large natural resource management agency, and I hunt. Not only is there absolutely no practical use for a camouflaged truck, but not being able to readily see your truck from a distance, in poor weather, could be dangerous. Maybe announcing your redneckness to the world is more important.

IndyCar champion Dan Wheldon dies in massive crash at Las Vegas race [video]
October 18, 2011
You are very wrong in your comparison. There are about 20 F1 races a year. NASCAR runs about 90 between their three major oval series. IndyCar runs about 18. Without counting USAC and World of Outlaw Sprint Cars, and ARCA, etc., there is five times as many major oval races a year in the United States than the entire Formula One schedule.

The oval tracks walls are mostly filled with polystyrene in the USA. They are not solid concrete. To compare the deaths in one series, Formula One, against all oval track series in the USA isn't fair. This is the first death in IndyCar since 2005. Statistically this isn't that much more significant than the 1994 death in F1. The problem to me is putting open-wheel cars on oval tracks designed for NASCAR events. The two are very different. The NASCAR spec thingys can touch hundreds of times without setting off the type of wrecks which happen when open-wheel cars get together. The Milwaukee Mile is one of my favorite IndyCar tracks. It has no-banking at all. It is safe and show-cases the skill of the drivers.
2012 BMW 3-Series (F30) unveiled [video]

I don't love it, and it's style offers nothing new. But, enough Bangleness has been subtracted from the body to maybe allow me to buy the car for its great engine.
BMW i1 concept
October 11, 2011
"this concept provides a link between the experience gained by BMW in the world of automobile and motorcycles; in addition it also shows that electric vehicles can also be linked to the philosophy of (expensive) driving pleasure of the German brand." This is a great illustration of the pompous over-thinking that is getting this company into trouble. I read this line and instantly thought of the self-inflated video they made to introduce the failed GT (the car, wagon, SUV, cross-over thingy that was so original that it only could have been conceived by BMW).
