(regardless if it is an MB..Jeep, Dacia...audi et). remember that the insides of the engine are more important (if it has new injenctors, new management, new pistons, oil pump...water pump... or like MBs cyliinder deactivation. or making them out of aluminum instead of cast iron. (questoin. if someone offers u the same engine, - displacement, no of cyl - one casted in iron and one in aluminum, u refuse them both on based on the reason that they are both OLD?) and no 2. almost every manufacturer hasnt released a NEW, designed from scrap engine for....years. al of them are either updated, or "derivates". and one more thing, updating ur old blox or for xample, casting in the same molds, but using better materials is more cheaper, greener, better for the company, and me and you.
