2012 Subaru Impreza debuts in New York [videos]

Are you people nuts? I too had low expectations of this redesign, but I think it looks great! I was disappointed with the new Civic (interior mainly, and trim level configurations). I think the Impreza looks sporty and good looking enough (without being tiredsome), and the interior looks good too. Again, not too much and definitely not too bland/cheap. That along with AWD, earns a place on my next car shopping list. I think the only difference between this and the concept car is that the concept's back is stretched out and more rounded, which I think would make it look better. However, I think the ugly cars of the NY auto show are the sedan versions of the Accent, Focus, Rio, and Versa.
Consumer Reports hammers the U.S.-market VW Jetta
April 7, 2011
One of the reasons why the "Craprolla" is popular is because its affordable with good quality or reliability. Toyota isn't exactly giving them away for free. Yes the Jetta may more fun to drive, and once had better materials. But I know a lot of people who had VWs, and they all had problems with them. Even the one's who are VW-loyal even admit to having problems. Even repair costs are comparable to Mercedes and BMW, and I think people would most likely rather own those. Face it, if the the Corolla was the craprolla that you said it was, it would not be a top seller. Unless the new Jetta and Passat could bring in lower ownership costs and better reliability, they will be outsold by not only by Toyota and Honda, but Ford, GM, and Hyundai.
Toyota suspends Lexus GX 460 sales after rollover risk report
April 14, 2010
To EDavis,
True that Lincoln, Buick, and Mercury are on the list. But Toyota is the only listed manufacturer that sells more cars. The above listed American cars are bought by 60-70 year olds and women, who don't complain much, and probably take care of their cars. Seriously, compare sales and service traffic of Porsche, Lincoln, Buick, and Mercury to Toyota's (even before the recalls). Of course they are going to do well. As for Buick, the cars they rated are old school and being replaced. Honestly, I would be worried if Porsche sold a lot of cars. That means our economy is doing well, and we'll be soon paying $20K for a Chevy Aveo.

Is it me, or does it combine designs of the Smart, Toyota, and Mazda?

World Car Forum, yes. NOT European car! European cars may look nicer, but they have problems too. European and reliable have not yet come together. If someone were to ask me what car is the best, I would tell them "neither". They ALL have their weaknesses and problems. Toyota is not the first automaker to do this. I'm not defending them, and I agree they made bad decisions. I will have to give them credit on one thing. While MB and BMW only have one line of cars to design, Toyota has two (As do GM, Ford, Honda, Nissan, and VW). To try to make higher quality, better designed vehicles, it's hard to compete with your own.
New Ford Focus Badged as Mercury Tracer Due in 2011
February 15, 2010
Mercury should be killed off. I see way more Fords on the road than Mercurys. I thought Ford was going to be done with badge engineering. If anything, maybe Ford can offer a Ford Fusion Mercury Package (with Mercury like styling)?

2011 Hyundai Sonata Unveiled for U.S. Market
December 3, 2009
This new Sonata looks really sweet. I give a lot of credit to Hyundai. I just hope the next Camry looks as nice (I'll admit, they have been good with their latest designs as of late). The same cannot be said for Honda.
Hyundai Pulls Out of Japanese Market
December 2, 2009
I would guess the reason why they pulled out of the Japanese market was because of their product offering. While the U.S. and Europe got fresh offerings, Japan still received the old (the same when Chevrolet was there). Also, if Hyundai wanted to do better in Japan, they should have adapted to their tastes, i.e. smaller cars and wagons. Too bad they decided to pull out now, with cars like the Genesis and upcoming small SUVs.
