Prior-Design BMW 1M conversion for 1-Series Coupes I've got a 335i m sport and i love the n54 engine. I can't imagine the same twin turbo engine in that little 1 series. Chip it for $500 and get this kit = quicker than a 1m coupe in a straight line. The only things missing would be the quicker steering rack from the 1m as well as the suspension, bigger brakes and LSD.

All aluminium chassis is a first for a SL as stated above. If you look at all the successful car manufacturers, they use design cues and experience from their past design success. SL has been around for decades. So has the 6 series, 911 series and etc. If you want a small convertible and love Mercedes, buy a SLK and believe me it won't have half the features this one has let alone the same engine (probably detuned). SLK is for the younger crowd imo and the SL is for the 30 above. Once you get into your 50s and you still enjoy two door coupes, you can get into a CL or if no money is a limit, a SLS. SLS comes from the Gullwing by the way. Ohh wait, that's a facelift too right? You can't judge colors or taste. If a facelift is your concern, SL, SLK and SLS are brand new chassis'. They look similar as a shape, yes, but that's how Mercedes or other successful brands make new production cars recognisable as what it is. Once you see this thing on the road from a distance for the first time, if it makes you realise that it's a SL, Mercedes have succeeded. Not dissing or saying some brands are better than others. It's just the way design language has been implented on German cars for the last 2 decades or more.
