This is hilarious. The museum is in Bilbao, but apparently it's name is a banned word.
Fiat 500 wagon to be unveiled in Geneva: bound for US market
January 17, 2012
Um, not sure what you mean, VWWerke. Sergio Marchionne is the guy you're referring to, and from what I read on Wikipedia, he's smarter than most of us. As far as the discernment of the U.S. market, are you talking about the same people who prefer hybrids to diesels, SUV's to wagons, cross-overs to minivans and pickup trucks to, well, most things I guess. Truth is, the States isn't one market but 50 or more (60 if you add Canada), but California dominates, hence it's quirkiness to everyone else in the world. As to the 'failure' of the Fiat 500, it was introduced in between two very large financial crises and Fiat didn't get a separate dealer network together first in the same way BMW did with the Mini brand. That`s coming. As to a general dislike of microcars, it depends where you live. Out here on the West Coast, the Smart brand has been around for some years, and there are plenty of small Japanese imports, including RHD import micro trucks and minivans. It all depends where you live. I hope the 500 does well - it looks great, appears to be bolted together well and I`d like my better half to get one so we can keep the Land Rover as the gas prices keep spiralling ever upward. Then again, I`m really interested to see what VW puts into our market in the next while. There`s a company that can be individualistic when they choose to be.
VW-Porsche merger delayed into next year

I take exception to the term "hedge fund investors". They wagered on the wrong horse and they lost. End of story. The sad part is that some of the biggest "hedge fund investors" are banks, investment funds and pension corporations, and their day-trading has a lot to do with economic instability around the world. Once upon a time it was called for what it is - greed, but since someone came up with the argument that greed is good, anything goes. Who knows where, though...
Porsche 911 seven-speed manual confirmed?

Just a thought, but don't styling departments redo the skins of cars so the marketing people can reinvent them, while the engineers try to make the the cars better. So you would prefer something different every few years and don't like the styling? Lots of choice out there and no shortage of people who would beg to disagree. Looking back at Porsches over the years, I think it's great that they've stuck to improving it for so long, and hope they keep going with the Carrera.

Check out the Wiki article on the 904. I never heard of triple barreled Webers either.

The reasons for owning a premium car aren't that simple. You think cool while I'm justifying the outlay and the running costs. You dream about weekend track days and I think about the cost of those 295/19 ZR30 tires and how often. What makes us all want a Porsche is like looking at her (or him) and knowing that "they're the one". Watch a Porsche video and it's all about passion and longing. There's a reason Porsche is so profitable - they know better than most which of our buttons to press, and they cater to people who don't need to worry about the cost of those tires! Yup, it proably is the most practical model, and through these old eyes, it's very cool! A word of warning, though, unless you are willing to part with the money, don't go out and test drive one - going back to your daily driver just won't feel the same.
Mercedes R-Class Facelift Spied in the U.S.

Great - I was looking at trading in my E wagon and was wondering if they'd keep the model. Can't understand why it can't get any respect - tell me it's ugly compared to a Q7, Pacifica or Enclave. Roomy, comfortable, great on the highway and reasonable economy with the diesel. Major beefs - why no SWB version in N. America? Needs to go to Weight Watchers, and how about a hybrid option like the original Vision concept?
