Lamborghini trademarks Deimos
April 9, 2012
The name might be fitting to the Lamborghini brand, but unfortunately it reminds me a-bit too much of the Mazda Demio... :p
2013 Mercedes G-Class facelift revealed
March 22, 2012
There are few competitors to the G-Class nowadays...that is, there aren't many cars that look so unashamedly chunky and boxy, and few can keep up with it offroad (this has proper offroading kit, including locking differentials, unlike most modern SUVs/4x4s). It's also built to laugh at the test of time...sure, it looks a-bit outdated, but that's part of the appeal. Me? I'm glad they still make it.
2013 Mercedes GLK facelift revealed
March 22, 2012
I rarely like facelifts compared to the 'original' model, but actually I quite like this - and thankfully the've changed the air vents. A pity they're not going to make it RHD...
Volvo V40 debuts first pedestrian airbag [video]
March 15, 2012
"Other features also include Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake"; Bravo for Volvo to finally implementing the idea of airbags for pedestrians (which has been around for quite some time), but by introducing this they don't seem too confident about the performacne of the 'Pedestrian Detection'...otherwise they wouldn't need the airbags in the first place! :p
Also, will the airbags activate in a small bumper-to-bumper collision? Repairs would be unnecessarily costly in that case...
(Btw I know that in real-life circustances it is quite difficult to achieve 100% accuracy - so this system I think will be a sort of 'backup' in case the 'Pedestrian Detection' tech doesn't actually detect the pedestrian...better safe than sorry)
Toyota FT-Bh small hybrid concept revealed [video]
March 6, 2012
While their efforts are commendable, I'm not sure about Toyota being "at the forefront of producing and developing super efficient cars"...their hybrids, for example, typically come nowhere near the claimed economy figures and they haven't really done anything radical...in fact, the most that they can say about being 'green' is that they have hybrids. The cars being launched by Mercedes, for example, are setting the trend of being the most aerodynamic in their class - E-Class, B-Class, SL-Class and now the A-Class all how the lowest drag coefficient rating in their class and are some of the most aerodynamic in the world, helping to cut down on emissions and fuel consumption. The E-Class Coupe, I believe, has as good a drag coefficient as (if not better than in fact) the Prius...not to mention, they have just announced that they have reduced emissions by 35%, they are rolling out both petrol and diesel-electric hybrids, have EVs and fuel cell vehicles under evaluation in real world conditions... The focus on reducing weight on this concept vehicle is good though.
2013 Mercedes A-Class leaked image reveals rear end
March 2, 2012
Actually the tail lights like more like a BMW 1-Series' IMO...although DS3 is a close second. Otherwise, looks good from this angle...however, I think they should have kept more to the Concept A-Class design - they've deviated too much from it (unless of course they're planning on making a 3-door version that looks different enough from the 5-door to give it another name like 'A-Class Sports Coupe' or something to make it more exclusive, and that would resemble the concept (the concept was a 3 door after all)...)
Audi looks into the future with 7 new technologies
March 2, 2012
Tbh I don't know the specifics...I was merely commenting on the 'idea' and the fact that the 'idea' has already been implemented in some form or another ;) But yes, it'll be interesting to see how each manufacturer implements it on production vehicles.
Audi looks into the future with 7 new technologies
March 1, 2012
Interesting technologies and ideas, and it'll also be interesting to see to what extent they'll filter into production models...however, hasn't the 'predicitive suspension technology' already been implemented by Mercedes on one of its concept vehicles? A-little late to the party there...however, I like the emphasis on lighter materials.
Land Rover Evoque Cabriolet Concept spotted on London streets
February 26, 2012
Has anyone else noticed that the rear 'Range Rover' badge is sited differently (a-bit lower) on this Evoque than the one in the official pics? Strange...
2013 Lexus GS UK pricing starts at ?32,995
February 16, 2012
Of course looks or subjective but...are you kidding? Incidentally I was discussing this issue with someone else just this week - when I look at the interior I get all depressed and irritated, because there are certain details which just aren't right IMO, especially compared with the competition. And the exterior design is just trying too hard, with the headlights looking a-bit too much like a previous-gen Hyundai Sonata...
