Mercedes SLC likely to be green-lighted - report I agree with edd lg. The SL is more a GT/trophy/cruisin/good life car and the SLC will be the more focused sportscar. I am happy to see the sport side getting more emphasis from Daimler and this helps to make AMG more important to the company. At this price range though there needs to be more differentiation, higher level appointments and a more distinct AMG style.

Dealers refusing to take Chevy Volts - report Car makers are making more hybrids & electric vehicles due to the increased fuel efficiency laws. The car makers don't want to as this increases cost and a majority of consumers are not buying the electric and/or hybrid vehicles. To miss your production quota by 2000 units hardly qualifies as a fiasco and radmeister brings up a good point... The fire from the Volts that were tested began 3 weeks later. It happened as rad pointed out because during the testing the vehicle is rotated 360 degrees and held in various positions for longer periods of time...coolant leaked out and got onto other systems while the vehicle was held upside down. The NHTSA did not follow the manufacturers instructions (GM) and left everything hooked up and wow 3 weeks later we have a fire. The Volt/Ampera is safe and GM made improvements to the battery containment with stronger supports to prevent intrusions from side impacts. The battery pack is rated from when you purchase the vehicle...not the manufacturing date...so no one gets a Volt with a partially operating battery. When you purchase batteries at a store, you have no idea how long they have been sitting on the shelf but not 1 store offers a 20% discount because you think the batteries aren't fresh; nor should any car maker.
