I've been out of the loop, this is just a freshening of the existing archaic platform right? Not a derivation of the new S-Class architecture. It looks like a thoroughly modern vintage, like the G-Class truck.

There is a major problem with this ideology. German engineering has always been about find this function then adding ideal design. Does distorting the front face of German sedans and forcing elements to align make for a great car, or are you falling into Infiniti's wavy paint brush design philosophy?

Japanese designers make ridiculous even silly decisions. It looks abit elongated like the Q7 but they take steps to make the rear vertical, making it look like a tall minivan.

tiny crossover rear (similar to the dwarf Caddy) and truckish/macho front end. Abit schizophrenic, especially disappointing considering it's a blurred sketch. I have to say the flimsy A pillar looks unsafe and the rear c-pillar more car-like than suv. The bulging doors and high shotgun window line look abit aloof like the Ford Flex, not very svelte. Hard to believe professionals came up with this.

What I don't understand is, this car is larger supposedly but looks so small. The new 5 series, same thing. The 5 is based off the 7's platform but looks like what the 3 series should be. The older smaller models having more substance.

see it for what it is, a hatchback/wagon/unibody crossover. not very cool looking.
