As a matter of fact, I wouldn't want a high revving peaky engine in my SUV, its all about application. Moreover, I never said the Merc's engine was extremely high tech. I said that the Chrysler engine is not far behind its competition, in a package thats almost half the price.

The "AMG" engine in the ML63 AMG is 6.3 liters, and produces 503hp and 465lb.ft of torque @ 5200RPM which, I feel, is incredibly high for an SUV. The Chrysler engine produces slightly less hp at 470, and slightly more torque at 470 lb.ft, and I can bet my life it comes lower down in the rev range where it is most required. And guess what? The chrysler engine would have had less than a third of the money spent in R&D compared with the Benz, so it IS quite an achievement. Instead of calling it silly, I'd say its a lot of bang for the buck when the ML63 costs almost twice as much at 93K USD. Sure, the ML63 is a much better car, but definitely not twice as good as this. Lastly, sorry to burst your bubble of ignorance, but the Benz does 11/15 MPG (city/Hwy) where as the Jeep does 12/18 MPG. Pretty damn fuel inefficient, this beefy American lump, innit?
