McLaren P12 (F1 successor) speculatively rendered
May 9, 2012
The new F1 won't look too much like the MP4-12C because the design director came in right at the final stages of the MP4 and STILL tried changing things. From what I hear, he wants something more distinctive and arresting than the MP4.
FIA tests forward roll-hoop for F1 cars [video]
April 26, 2012
All comments above are valid. Importantly, though, if this deflected a tyre up, what would happen if it hit the roll-over hoop square on? In very rare instances (a lower-speed or freak collision) this MAY lead to a tire dropping onto the helmet? Not going to happen at 225km/h I know, but I think for that reason, as well as visibility and aerodynamicity, the canopy would be better; unfortuantely, it would also make it more difficult to get out of the car with a canopy; there needs to be some way of it blowing off (a la gullwing doors on SLS)
Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG spied undisguised in Dubai

Are there plans for a G-wagen refresh for the whole range, then? We're thinking about buying the G350, but if this interior is coming out, we'd definitely wait. HUGE improvement on the interior.
VW CEO checks out more of the competition at Frankfurt show [video]

As Edison said, but if you consider the amount of rivals the car has. If you're spending ?15,000 each on cars from a handful of companies, your development costs quickly rack up. Just think of the amount of cars which compete with the Golf. Hyundai, Opel, Alfa Romeo, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, Nissan, BMW (+ Mini), Renault, Peugeot, Citroen etc. You could be looking at ?200,000 worth of direct competitors if you also wanted to order options and see how their interfaces worked. If you took into account indirect competitors - i.e. different bodyshapes, same price point (e.g. Peugeot RCZ, Honda CRZ) you could add at least another ?100k to that. It's not like showrooms are just gonna let you go in with 10 people and assess a car you have no interest in buying, whereas they can't stop you at a motorshow.

If they were too secure, they wouldn't feel the need to improve. The industry is one that's constantly evolving. It's not about insecurity, it's about realising you need to move with the times and the competition.

Firstly: any publicity is good publicity. Secondly: shows the consumer/investors/competitors that they have a definite desire to be the best in the industry. It promotes the idea of constant technological improvement at VW, so if they're making sure they're better than the competition, why would you want the others?
Revving Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 underwhelms [videos]
March 9, 2011
The reason it underwhelms is because the valves don't open. There is a short instance where the valves momentarily open at 10seconds. The engine is obviously not warm (the reason the red-line is at 5800rpm) and so they aren't going to get too frisky.
F1 rivals say Alonso best current driver

So you're honestly saying that Schumacher is indisputably better than Senna, despite Senna's early and untimely death?
Bentley Mulsanne: Full Specs announced
March 3, 2010
There's too much Audi in Bentley so you'd rather have a Rolls Royce Ghost? It's no secret that the Ghost consists of a lot of 7 series. I'd say there's a lot more BMW in the Ghost than there is Audi in the Mulsanne

The original post was about parts sharing which obviously NOT the cade if they're not the same wheels, mate. Your statement was also contradictory; they look "nearly identical" but they're "the same"?!
