US plans to receive Ford Focus RS Canceled I'm late to the party, I know, BUT... Just an FYI, the Mk 1 & Mk 2 Mondeo was sold in the US as the Ford Contour, Mercury Mystique, and the platform was also utilized in coupe form in the Cougar in both markets. Additionally, the estate (wagon) version of the platform saw use in the US as the Jaguar X-Type sedan. Domestically, the Contour has found a loyal following, particularly the SVT version - the only sedan to ever wear an SVT badge. Many of these enthusiasts have taken to replacing the 2.5L v-6 with a 3L from the Taurus. This is the engine the car should have been born with. If you ever come across one with a 3L and the SVT suspension, ask/plead/beg to drive it.
