The Prius C is not planned for sales in Europe... the styling would not work here. I guess the super-slow sales of the regular Prius are the reason for this.

Wagon for Europe (where the wagon sells much better than the sedan), 3GT for America, where "wagon" is a dirty word. (Like "diesel" or "manual transmission")

Next-gen Toyota Auris first to get BMW diesel engine
December 21, 2011
The Auris is available with a lineup of three diesel engines (1.4L D-4D, 90hp 2.0L D-4D 126hp, 2.2L D-CAT 177hp) Why can't they evolve those instead of buying somebody else's' engines? http://www.toyota.de/cars/new_cars/auris/index.tmex?view=topfeatures&select=engines
Mercedes E-Class Hybrids coming to Detroit - report
December 19, 2011
The regular E250 CDI with the 2.1L twin turbo diesel has 369 lb-ft of nearly instantly available torque. It feels great without the hybrid system, believe me. The question is, does the hybrid system really improve real-world fuel economy much? They are putting the 2.1L twin turbo into many vehicles. C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, ML-Class, Sprinter, SLK... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLzXeK7RBlA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSH-5uGF1Y4&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLD26EB0ACB070C2BA
Cadillac admits need for diesels to compete against Germans

"GM also has the option, though, of sourcing diesel engines and technology from its European unit Opel." Makes no sense - Opel doesn't make its own diesels. They use Fiat and Isuzu diesels engines.
Chevrolet confirms diesel engine for Cruze in U.S.
July 24, 2011
The VM Motori diesel in the Cruze is not related in any way to the Fiat diesel in the Opels. Much older design than the Fiat.
