Porsche explains the new 911's identity [video]
January 26, 2012
The 911 design makes technical sense for a performance car... has huge engineering merit. Not as though they are compromising with the intent of the car just to keep the shape. Great concepts do not need to adapt with the fashions of the day.
Volvo shows off semi-autonomous road train tech [videos]

I hope this functionality is totally disabled on country roads... imagine trying to overtake a train when not on a multi-lane freeway... At a minimum, I'd need no less than RS & M cars just to safely complete overtaking.
BMW planning touch sensitive fabric in future models?
January 26, 2012
Physically, we are 3D beings and operate in 3D space. Ergonomically, 3D interfaces will always be best... Nevertheless, touch interfaces -which are 2D- allow the same space to be used for difference functions. Thus touch interfaces are most likely here to stay since they allow better adaptability. Any user interface design blunders can be corrected via a software update. Imagine a face-lifted car model with a 'new' dashboard, but actually the same as the old, only programmed differently.
Furthermore, imagine being allowed the choice of dashboard and door panel skins as in software! Sport mode, efficiency mode or even child friendly infotainment controls behind the front seats!

So far, it looks like Audi has attended to all the things I wanted improved upon... including such detail as the padding on the sides of the console besides the shifter... I would like to see a closer view of the instrument cluster - expecting some improvements on the DIS.

I was impressed... untill I saw how much space is occupied by the battery... I'd wait to see what the Germans, Japanese and Koreans will come up with.
Audi RS3 vs. BMW 1-Series M Coupe by Fifth Gear [video]
October 24, 2011
I did not see so the hand brake turns on the BMW as on the RS3...not only that, but the very wide oversteer make me wonder... champ yes, but every car needs to be driven for what it is.

@Mr You
I agree with your observations... my brother's B6 140kW with sport package still looks sporty and it's interesting seeing how much street cred it has retained. I am hoping the sedan would be my next A3. I find the A4 too serious and a little large. This A3 sedan is a natural upgrade path.

If there is such a phenomenon as colour blindness, there just might be Audi model blindness. Audi's target market is a little more sophisticated than being preoccupied with shallow considerations of shape alone... they also perceive scale. The 'family look' is by design and we like it.
Audi drivers tend to not have inflated egos that they should pretend to be driving a 'unique-mass-production' vehicle.
Get a Buggati or Lambo or Porsche for that!
Am I the only one who has observed that a previous shape BMW looks much older than an equivalent previous shape Audi?
