Maserati registers 'Cinqueporte' name

They should go back to using wind names. Or since its an SUV, maybe mountain range names like Himalaya or Karakorum. Just throwing out some ideas.
Alfa Romeo will prioritize U.S. over Europe

I live in LA and I see at least 1 FIAT 500 a day. A suprising number actually considering they were launched less than a year ago and there are very few dealerships around and awareness among the non-auto-enthusiast crowd was probably low.
Honda NSX could be launched by 2014 - report
October 5, 2011
I am a Honda fan, but I can honestly say that Honda/Acura have lost the plot in last 3 years. No follow on to the tasty S2K, and their current cars are either bland or have ugly or gimmicky details (e.g. Acura fat-upperlip grill). Heck, other car companies have been churning out cleverer engine tech than Honda as well (i.e. FIAT's Multi-Air). As far as the NSX is concerned, they waffled about too much and now their prime window of opportunty has passed. What niche will the new NSX occupy now? BMW and Porsche will already have, what looks to be pretty impressive hydrid supercars by the time this thing turns a wheel, GT-R/Porsche Turbo already have the 4WD end of the market, and Ferrari/McLaren have the ultra-high tech mid-engined portion of the market and probably will for some time. The original came about when the competition was complacent (read, Ferrari), but now the competition is in top form.

VW CEO checks out more of the competition at Frankfurt show [video]
October 4, 2011
Hmmm. Spend $30 a ticket to the auto show or $15,000 on purchasing a car. Plus, he might be finding a few areas in which the Golf is better.
VW CEO checks out more of the competition at Frankfurt show [video]

All you need to know is that this man obviously cares about his products and that he is setting forth good challenges and questions for his engineers. I might be way off the reservation here, but he might be benchmarking against VW products.

Volkswagen CEO Winterkorn checks out Hyundai at Frankfurt Motor Show [video]
September 27, 2011
+1 for Winterkorn. I don't get people on this post. This is exactly the type of CEO a company should have. You should always be critical of your products, no matter how good they are, and see what your competition is doing right, and what you might be doing wrong. This is obviously a CEO that cares about his products and is putting the challenge to his staff to come up with a solution that is cheaper. What's wrong with that? This is NOT like GM. GM only cared about the money and thought that the only way to do that would be to find creative ways at re-packaging and re-branding 30 year-old platforms. GM's problem was that they were complacent while the industry moved forward. VW is obviously not a complacent company, considering the technology that they have brought to the lower tiers of the market (e.g. dual clutch trans, downsized engines, DI). I will guarantee you that Hyundai/KIA have stripped many a VW to figure out how their built, and this happens thoughout the industry between competitors.
Volkswagen Phaeton replacement coming in 2015?
September 23, 2011
VW needs to put the Blueconcept roadster into production, not this. VW competes in every other segment, most of the times with other vehicles in its group of subsidiary companies, yet they don't make something to compete with the MX-5. Seems like a wide open category that they can sell alot of cars in. Currently Mazda is the only one mining it. Instead, VW wants to continue down the same Phaeton road that was already proven to lead to failure. Don't get me wrong, great car, but why try to force the idea down people's throats, especially when there is the A8? Seems like if you're gunning for No.1 you try to repeat your successes, not your failures.
