Citroen DS High Rider Concept First Details and Photos Released
February 14, 2010
I admit I know nothing of car design - so I'm at a loss to explain just what it is about this car that makes me enjoy the looks of it so much. Lines? Curves? Proportions? Who cares about the justifications...just let me have one! NICE JOB!
Toyota to expand pedal recall to Europe - report
January 29, 2010
I drove my mom's automatic-transmissioned '85 Taurus with a stuck throttle about 15 years ago. It was disconcerting, but I only needed to shift into neutral to slow or stop the car. Then and to this day, I prefer manual transmissions, manual parking/emergency brakes, manual closing of doors... you get the picture. "I, Robot" starring Will Smith is a not-too-subtle view of a future where people let laziness / districtions / "advancement" / whatever cloud their perception of control leaving electro-nannies to "help" run their lives. I'm a control freak - I'll keep my manual controls, thank you.
BREAKING: GM Reaches Agreement to Sell Saab to Spyker
January 26, 2010
I'm pleased for the SAAB brand. I am less than overjoyed due to the fact that ham-fisted GM will *STILL* retain a large ownership share in the "new company." If they really wanted to get rid of SAAB, why the plan for continued meddling? In America we say, "S**t or get off the pot." I hope GM gets their collective nose out of Spyker's (new) business and allow them to succeed on their own.
VW NCC Concept Previews Near Production MKVI Jetta Coupe/Sedan
January 13, 2010
I love my old 1999 MkIV Jetta TDI's chunky, squared-off good looks. I Think the MkV looks rather bulbous, and I never really liked the front clip. This new MkVI really looks great from all angles. For sure, VW will tone down the front spoiler and air scoops, but the overall effect is very nice (and kinda chunky again) for a small sedan. Solid effort, VW!
Buick Regal GS Show Car Revealed
January 7, 2010
..."Connected to a six-speed manual transmission and an adaptive all-wheel-drive system (with an electronic limited-slip rear differential)..." WHAT?!?! I can hardly believe it. If GM can find dealers" who will actually put this car in their showrooms, these models will sell. I believe some of the "old-man" sitgma for Buick stems from the sales force's resistance to younger-themed product and the marketing team's misguided efforts to aim product at the 25-40 market.
BMW 5-Series Touring Now Testing Almost Undisguised
December 8, 2009
I think the F10 ROCKS!!! And this F11 is far better proportioned than the 5 GT. The taper of the rear end of the car looks great. I would really enjoy seeing great SportWagons replace a great portion of SUVs. The F11, A6 Avant, CTS SportWagon, 3 Series Touring, Accord Touring (European model), Alfa Romeo 159 Wagon, and many others are great-looking cars. Keep 'em coming! Especially with a stick!
All New 2011 Audi A8 Revealed - 87 Photos, Initial Details and Video Updated
December 1, 2009
Meh. Not horrible, but certainly not exciting - and hardly the most "sporting" in it's class. Is it me, or is thr front overhand even LONGER than the previous A8? There is only one pic of a straight-on side view - and that giant proboscis looks longer than that of a Passat CC. Elegant? No. Sporting? No. Compare that overhang to that of the 7 Series and you'll see what I mean. Interior is nice. Pop-up nav screen was done better in the Caddy CTS (where part of it is used when the unit is mostly hidden - then extends out of the dash for full use.) Again - meh.
2011 BMW 5-Series F10 Sedan Revealed [Video]
November 25, 2009
It is almost as if the sole purpose of the 5er GT is to make this car (the 5er) look low, wide, athletic, and sophisticated. I do hope BMW will send the 530d to the states with the option of a manual transmission. I've been wanting that combo for YEARS! Please, God, please!
2011 BMW 5-Series F10 Sedan Revealed [Video]
November 23, 2009
Wow. All the teasing and shrouding was worth the wait. Rear decklid is shorter than my '94 3-Series (so I think it makes the 5er look athletic). L-o-n-g bonnet/hood looks elegant. The taper of the shoulder, side, and "running boards" at the rear looks sporting, too. The front end looks menacing (grrrreat!). Nice butt, too. In the photos where all iterations of the 5er are compared, I think this model looks very good. If I could afford to buy one, I would! I'll have to be content with having eye candy for now. Nice job, BMW!
Audi A7 Spied Undisguised
November 21, 2009
The overall sillouette is far better proportioned than the 5 series GT, but (like peterjames7) I, too, am disappointed that the front end grille and headlight design of the concept was scrapped form something so banal, bland, and (almost) pedestrian. I'll bet the great rear-end design elements of the concept were also left on the design-room floor. If this model is too bland and too much like the A5 SportBack, I imagine the less-expensive A5 will cannibalize sales from this A7.
