BMW considered an M1 successor, but doesn't want one - report I think it's a case of two things: 1) Not having the stones 2) Their focus is completely on volume and affordable cars and are more keen to grab headlines based on being german volume king vs having halo supercar. Bmw brand is becoming less and less associated with premium branding. Perhaps they feel this is necessary to survive as it is obviously a conscious corporate decision.

2012 Audi A4 / S4 facelift revealed [videos] I was expecting a little more with this face-lift but it is in tune with the A5 revisions, so no surprises. Audi really has nothing to answer for regarding the S4. Physically and dynamically it is best in class. Before the bmw fanboys go apesh-t, the new 3-series is unproven and the s4 is not positioned to compete with the M3. From a sales perspective the A4/S4 has sold well for the last 3 years so why go crazy fixing something that is obviously unbroken. Fanboys need some new material re: audi family resemblance. Have you been in a bmw dealership lately? Agreed there could/should be more differentiation among the A4/6/8, but anyone who can't tell the difference between an A5/A7/R8/TT etc. really needs to have their eyes checked. That is more clearly a sign of a bmw-enthusiast vs. an automotive enthusiast.

2012 next-generation Audi A3 details reported If this is close to the final design I think it is one of the most handsome designs for their line up yet. Much nicer than the current a4 with a sophistication in the sheet metal that's apparent in the A7. Overall a quantum leap forward for the A3 which looked dated 5 years ago. Now introduce the S3 and RS3 within 12 months of the regular model.
