Good man, Carroll Shelby. May your contribution to the automotive world forever be appreciated. R.I.P.

@CDspeed, I'll take your advice and test drive one and I'll try to be as objective as possible. I can't promise and I don't see how I will warm up to electric cars. What I meant by direct is that the car converts fuel into energy rather than a power plant converting coal, nuclear fuel, water motion, or wind into energy for the eventual storage in batteries. I just wish there was another way other than electric and as a fan of the idea that anything is possible, I can't help but think that a battery powered car is the easy way out for less than inventive engineers. Algae fuel was a good idea and an honest effort in my opinion.

@oldschool, I appreciate the support, I really do but there's no need to be insulting. Sites like this are most effective when they are a civilized exchange of ideas and opinions. We shouldn't let people get away with things like what Jean-S?bastienHotte said but if we insult him, we're no better.

@CDspeed, ok, -1 taken away. Still disagree with your argument about electricity being superior. It's indirect. The power doesn't come from itself. I simply don't like it for anything other than household appliances.

CDspeed, pay attention to what I was saying. I was not discussing electricity vs. gas or diesel. My comment was on the direction of technological development. I understand you may be used to the common arguments but be able to recognize uncommon ones.

Simply put, no, you are incorrect. You are taking the act of being incorrect to the level of an art and possibly even a science. Your dedication to incorrectness is almost admirable if it wasn't coupled with your attempt to insult me. Instead of trying to insult people you disagree with, listen. You might gain some perspective regardless whether I am right or wrong in my comment. And for Christ's sake, don't say things like, "Oh you can't possibly know anything about cars," to people that you will never even meet. It sounds kind of dumb.

Great, now those of us that actually enjoy cars and driving can dream about how good this car would be as a non-hybrid.

CDspeed, that's true and I've been saying that for a while now. The question is, is electricity the way forward or should focus be spent on other methods of providing energy to power a car? In modern times, not to insult Porsche, electricity is the easy way out for lazy engineers. History has proven it to be inferior to combustion but it's still being shoved down our throats as of about a decade ago.

I understand that ideology but when you consider how much attention each car manufacturer would pay to the autonomous system, what type of car do you think you'll be driving when you turn the system off? Will it be as enjoyable to drive as cars currently are? Although my argument is somewhat of a "slippery-slope" argument, it does pose a question that deserves some thought. Oh, and you're welcome.
Porsche 960 four-door coupe headed for 2015 launch - report
May 3, 2012
"Four door coupes" are great for people in the market for a sedan. If I want to buy a coupe, I won't buy a four door car and I can't imagine anyone looking for a coupe buying what is essentially a sportier sedan.
