New BMW Z4 Interior Spied on the Street

The next E89 generation BMW Z4 spy photos are still flowing at WCF. Over the past two days we have seen Z4 prototypes here and here wearing the least amount of camouflage thus revealing a folding metal roof and the best body form details yet. This time spies have perfectly executed the over the shoulder blind spot approach showing us a glimpse of the interior.

It appears the Z4's interior will move away from the minimalist look of the current E85 generation in favor of more refinement and functionality. We can see wood trim throughout plus additional and larger dials just below the central air vents. Above, we can see the folding infotainment screen similar to the previous model but this one is much larger. Just like the new 7-Series and forthcoming 5-Series, electronic parking brake and Driving Dynamics Control buttons have migrated down onto the center console surrounding the gear shift lever. Most inevitably, we can also see an iDrive controller knob positioned just south of the gear shifter. The steering wheel is all-new with multi-function buttons as well.

We are looking for a debut of the E89 Z4 Roadster hopefully in Los Angeles next month, but our money is on Detroit in January. Production will begin shortly thereafter in Regensburg plant in Germany.

if you could tell how good a car is going to be by how good the camofluage is, then you'd know this z4 would be superb...

it's bigger than the present one, so it's not going to be easy to make it drive at least as good. and that's going to be a "must", because as far as the camouflage let us see, I don't see it looking much better than the present Z4. and that's bad, yes.

PS: when will they come to their senses AT LAST and fire that american designer that's destroying them already ?? german designers are just FINE (look at the Scirocco..), why bother looking for american ones ?.. damn..

I agree, and I'm an American, but Im thinking myb this 1 will look better...

Interior looks good. Lets hope it doesn't have the 'Smashed front' design like the X3 concept.

That interior looks CS inspired from what I can see; that's a good thing I reckon.

i think the interior is nice, i agree there's some cs in there, but i also think that air vents look a little audi.

Nice. The interior is much improved over the wreck that they have now.

Also, so far it looks good from the outside (still not sure if im liking the hardtop convertible, because theyre not the same as coupes) but I really like the inside.

I prefer TT!!!

uh - who'd like to drive a front wheel drive roadster? that idea is just as bad as the folding metal roof convertibles that just destroy the purity and lines of the cars but is oh so practical. don't be fooled by a golf in pretty clothes, its never a roadster, doesn't work genetically just like a carnivore will never become a sheep

What the hell are you saying muellr??? Are you saying that the Audi TT is like a golf but with pretty clothes?? This must be a joke or you are bit blind.

Its good that most BMW's have different interiors from each other. Its like each car has its own character. Unlike Audi, who enjoy using the Copy + Paste button on all models

by TSLi | October 18, 2008 2:31 AM
Do you think that? The interiors of BMW are just not cool enough to be compared with the Audis. They are too simple! Before you make a useless comment better think it twice.

Why is the new Z4 so overhyped
