Hyundai is heavily pursuing tuning fans with a series of Genesis coupe projects (see related links) making debuts in SEMA early next month. However, their aspirations are not limited to their new sports coupe. Hyundai America Technical Center has enlisted the help of California based RKSport, Inc. to debut at SEMA a customized high-performance Genesis sedan. Naturally, it will feature various exterior modifications courtesy of RKSport, but the main reveal is a never-seen-before enhanced version of the Tau V8 engine developed by Hyundai's U.S. powertrain engineering team in Michigan.

"The 2009 Hyundai Genesis provides us a great opportunity to expand on the overall concepts originally designed by Hyundai engineers," says Bob Smith, owner, RKSport. "We plan on maximizing the performance abilities of the Genesis and are looking forward to developing a must-see car at this year's SEMA show."

"SEMA allows Hyundai to experiment with the rear-wheel drive performance and design of our Genesis platform," says John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "We expect the home-grown surprise under the hood of this Genesis will spark some interest with the crowd at SEMA."

We'll have to wait until SEMA for the engine's technical details and performance specs, but RKSport will be adding a composite hood, front and rear lower bumpers, side skirts, composite rear roof spoiler and trunk spoiler. Other bolt-on components include TSW alloy wheels, Baer performance brake package, K&N air intake, Eibach lowering springs and a Magnaflow performance exhaust.

Not an S Class...but more like a E Class. But how dare we compare this new comer to our distinguished Merc. Come back in about 20 years then we can start talking Hyundai Genesis series and Merc in the same sentence!
