Porsche Panamera First Sketches by 9ff

Just last week, Porsche teased us with a partial front side view of the Panamera and already German based Porsche tuner 9ff is busy preparing a program. Naturally, 9ff has had many spy photos to reference for their preliminary designs, but the final Panamera design details are still a mystery. So it's no surprise that 9ff have only added minor alterations to the somewhat blank Panamera canvas with the addition of signature 9ff wheels and a rear bumper diffuser with integrated trapezoidal dual exhaust pipes.

that rear end is getting worse every time i see it..is that an estate or a four door coupe ?..AM Rapide and MB CLS are way better than this sketches...i don't understand porsche's move on this four door coupe segment..ugly

The rear is wrong ;) I've seen the latest official sketch on the official site and the top line of the rear lights is different!

by ShinyG | September 24, 2008 12:18 PM
That's a pretty poor rendering execution-wise.

by LMS | September 24, 2008 12:22 PM
Please xplain why it is poor.

by amazingjerry | September 24, 2008 1:17 PM
They lack depth in light/shading, they accentuate the shutlines/connection of body panels which in combination with low detailing looks cartoonish.

Cocept sketches are vague to convey a feeling and general shape rather than the details, detailed renderings try to appear lifelike, this is somewhere inbetween.

by LMS | September 24, 2008 1:50 PM
I`m agree with you.

by mhamini | September 25, 2008 11:11 AM
I don't think the rendering really matters: what they are trying to express is the basic shape and design. What you argue wouldn't be applicable to sketches

Porsche is all about tradition and the Panamera fits in that tradition very well. the front looks a bit like the CarreraGT, the rear is in the vein of the 928s,944s and 968s 4seaters of the late 80s. it´s growing on me with every step.

9ff knows that there are rich people who have lots of money and no taste.

by M! | September 24, 2008 12:53 PM
They should do it like the 911 9ff gt2 thing, make have some character at least

by Jamie.matthews | September 24, 2008 1:28 PM
I love Porsche, but this thing is just an abomination. Absolutely horrid in my opinion.

by nurchus | September 24, 2008 1:38 PM
u maybe love the 911 but u don`t love porsche, if so u would try see the typical and unique Porsche design idea behind the panamera...

by catchmyshadow | September 24, 2008 2:06 PM
i find the rear ok, looks like a Jaguar type-E from the 60's, and that's a nice car too(ok it doesn't have 4 doors!)

by mc959 | September 24, 2008 4:07 PM
exactly, many poeple don`t even know these kind of cars anymore, like this one:

by catchmyshadow | September 24, 2008 6:39 PM
oh i know i know, that's a VW Beetle! lol.

by M! | September 24, 2008 7:58 PM
No more sketches!! I want to see the real one! Hope it would look better...

by Paulds | September 24, 2008 5:43 PM
I doubt it will be much different....if they follow the same design cues from existing porsches, thats probably as close as it will get

by kevoluetion | September 25, 2008 4:55 AM
looks like an r8

by mmr66 | September 24, 2008 5:53 PM
jojo so FKNG ugly car look like a station wagon jajaja

by _M7_ | September 24, 2008 6:08 PM
SEAT sucks.

by mps | September 24, 2008 7:08 PM
Put the CarreraGT rear end on it, adding a deeper slope to the rear window ending in a creased lip - then it'd look pretty damned decent. Its just too bulbousy back there, like Porsche only felt the need to make it look Porsche-like without thinking too heavily on the actual outcome.

face it , gentlemen . that old , legendary and inimitable sweepback is never gonna work elsewhere in any of current Porsche ranges , except where it originally belonged... in the last air/oil-cooled 993 series . that is because the old car was gifted with just about the right physical proportions from every conceivable angle right from the beginning of its inception - a dimensional virtue associated with 2+2 coupes of compact dimensions , never on full - sized 4-seater automobiles .just look at the stretched 928 birthday gift given to Ferry as well as the extended 993-based concept 999 , they all looked naturally LUDICROUS . corporate bureaucrat Wiedeking may crank up all the horsepower in the world just to make this thing fly to the moon , or may even make a grand effort to commercially persuade nicole kidman to spread her naked, kilometric alabaster thighs across the entire width of this car in order to lure prospective buyers , but in the final analysis all the money spent on this piece of metal amounts to nothing but a BUTT-UGLY PORSCHE SEDAN , a crystal clear-cut direction as to where Porsche's aesthetics are going these days.

it WILL work, in 2 years u will regret ur statement looking at the sales.

by catchmyshadow | September 24, 2008 11:37 PM
Is it about making beautiful performance vehicles while living up the heritage and vision? Or is it about making profit? If its about profit, you have your toyota.

by kevoluetion | September 25, 2008 4:56 AM
cathmyshadow: the cayenne is even worse, and there are lots of tasteless people who just want a porsche. sales figure does not equate to good looking cars.

by M! | September 25, 2008 6:23 AM
i do not say the cayenne is a classic beauty, but it wouldn`t be such a success if it wouldn`t be at least looking okay and satisfying. of course there are people who hate it but the are many more who like it and buy it that is what counts in the end, same with the panamera and the panamera isn´t uglier than the cayenne that´s for sure...

by catchmyshadow | September 25, 2008 10:48 AM
those who buy the cayenne like it because it is a porsche, not because it is 'okay looking and satisfying'. and some of them want an SUV and they think a Porsche SUV suck less. people responding to this post are saying the Panamera is ugly. not even okay looking.

by M! | September 25, 2008 12:07 PM
That one is not worst Porsche. Ugliest is Cayenne. Catchmyshdow, sale figures have no direct connection to the actual value of anything but have a known conjunction to the individuality and/or depersonalisation of target customership.

by alessandro | September 26, 2008 7:46 PM
I dont like it.

by The_woo_factor | September 25, 2008 10:27 AM
Its almost unbelivable how bad this thing looks. How come a company that made just about the best looking car ever (CGT), could come out with this POS..as if the cayenne wasn't enough!!And YES people buy cayennes JUST because its a porsche, i've seen several times this happening.

by Bernardo | September 25, 2008 3:49 PM
Is that a four door coupe or a station wagon?

by Speedoholic | September 27, 2008 12:38 PM
So why do people don´t buy a R-class because of the same reasons, i mean it´s a mercedes...?? The R-class concept is better than any SUV concept available and it sells like sh1te and is one of the biggest flops in the modern era of mercedes. i tell u why, because it looks shit. cars don`t sell like the cayenne does if they look buttugly, doesn`t matter if it´s a porsche or not, simple as that.

by catchmyshadow | September 28, 2008 5:21 PM
its quite ugly!!!!!!!!! i hope this is wrong if not the panamera is more of an e class wagon or 5 series wagon competitor
