It's always comical to us normal people how someone could spend that much on a car, or boat, or house, whatever. But remember there are some seriously filthy rich people in the world, multi billionaires, who seriously have nothing better to do with their money. 15 mill for a car, so what, he's probably got a 100 mill yacht, a handful of multi million dollar mansions all over the world, and so much money in stocks and bonds that he'll never be able to count it all. Think of the sheiks with a few of Veyrons, one in each color to match his trousers that day. Too much money in the world is in the hands of far too few people, and to them it's all just a game anyway.

It's amazing when people pay ten times this amount for a painting or sculpture, just to lock it in a high security vault for no one to see, they are called art collectors. But when someone (who obviously can afford it) pay's 15 mil for a collectable work of engineering art , he's called a fool or he's waisting his money. It's his money...let him spend it as he wishes. However I could do with just 10% of that. I'm up for adoption if need be !!!

Yes it's his money, but these are our opinions. Of course we jealous of these multi-billioner people's money. In fact all these money exchance between rich people. Let them have fun with money. We will be talking about their money anyway...

It´s OK spend your money, but you can DO something more with all that money, probably he has billions more, so... And it´s not only a money issue, you can DO something too in your own community

FOOL! As much as I like cars, I'd never spend that much on 1 car. Like shadow said, why not give that money to the poorer areas of the world, not just to one Ferrari. No-matter how rare it was, it's not worth it.

you guys must've never wanted anything really badly. if you did, and your pockets are deep enough, you wouldn't mind paying that steep a price. besides, you guys are the one keeping the poor countries poor. you can't always give them handouts, instead you should teach them how to work for it. you can't feed your kid his whole life! think about that one.

i agree with the "if you ever wanted somethin so bad ..." argument, however, if i wanted it so bad, i would rather borrow it for a day than pay such an obscene amount to own it, which goes to say its abt satisfying onez ego and nothin more ... sure its a peace of art and i appreciate it, but if i buy it and wont be driving it often engh, whats the point ! I rather do somethin worthwhile with that money ... like, build somethin to set a land speed record (which again is a waste of money :D )

Everyone here just comes from a different stratosphere than this guy. A person who buys a 15mil Ferrari has the purchase power equivalent of anyone of us buying a 3-series. Sure its a hit, but no biggie. It's also unfair to say condemn the person by saying "give it to the poor." Statistically speaking, most ultra rich donate in high amounts for tax purposes. They basically just have a lot of money and our 50-100K a year brains can't grasp it.

if the person who is so passionate about such a car then they definately deserve it. a token to car fans as out value has jsut gone up. anyway, i thought another 250 GTO was sold to a japanese collector with a similar price tag many years ago and it is not mensioned in the article?

The left-over food comment is kind of retarded. Food goes bad, money does not, at least not as quickly. Therefore it makes a lot more sense for this guy to donate some of his considerable wealth to people who really need it (I'm not talking about welfare moms, I'm talking about oppressed people in third world countries) than it does for people like you and I to send them our food (though canned and preserved foods would help).

Also funny how all the people on here who have never had access to more than $1000 at a time personally seem to think that when someone spends money it is the same as setting fire to that money. As though that $30,000,000 had just vanished into air. Does it occur to you how much of that money made its way into the hands of people like auto-restorers, transporters, insurers, auctioneers, as well as the other rich guy who sold it? And how each of those guys spend big pieces of it on their landscapers and cleaning ladies and local bakery and paying enormous taxes (it IS GB, after all) on their income or gains so that the gov't could redistribute their wealth to others who are "less fortunate." But no, rather than these people who are actually working and earning some of that money, you would rather the buyer give the money to people who have not earned it. Or better yet, to "oppressed people in 3rd world countries." Wow, settle down. I was merely indicating that if he doesn't donate he should. And you can travel to a third world country personally and help the people out, not to mention he could probably use his considerable wealth to pressure politicians within his own country to try and get something done. And I believe I specifically mentioned I didn't want him giving it to "welfare moms".

I think I read the same article that I believe many of you read (not counting those of you who only read the title) and I am saddened that so many of you would attack a person whom you know nothing about. One of my mentors Mr Jim Rohn makes the statement that prices are not the problem. The problem is that YOU can't afford it. So what's my point? My point is this. If your personal dream is to donate the $30,000,000 or so spent on this automobile to your favorite charity or cause, then go out, earn $30,000,000 and distribute it as you see fit. I do not know the person who purchased this car but I commend him. It has been my dream to "own" (not borrow) a Ferrari 250GTO since the first (and only time) I saw one as a 10 year old, over 25 years ago. When I do eventually get one I will then feel sympathy for all of you who would attack me rather than go out and achieve your own personal goals. To whom much is given much is required, the good book says. When I have enough money to purchase my dream car, I will also have tithed more money than you who are whining about my spending of it on blogs like this will ever earn in a lifetime. So to you Sir, who purchased this ultimate expression of the automobile I say congratulations. My question to you who are whining on this blog is from Mr Rohn, if you have the ability to earn more, should you? I wonder how many regular people a person who spends $30,000,000 on a car employs? In other words how many mouths does he feed daily?
