The new Transformers movie is uncovering a fair few interesting models, we have already seen pictures of a superb Corvette concept believed to be part of GM's Centennial celebrations, now a video from the production set has surfaced that reveals the full styling of the new Chevy Volt.

General Motors knew full well that camera happy fans are constantly surrounded many of the production sets, so we can only assume this is part of the marketing process for the model before its full reveal.

The body profile certainly leaves much to be excited about with a four-door coupe look to it, we also see this model features what appears to be a panoramic glass roof running from the foot of the windscreen straight through to the rear hood. This kind of feature is unlikely to be featured on the full production car meaning there is a possibility we will see a pre-production model unveiled before hand – some say this could be as soon as the Paris Motor Show in October.

The pre production concept version theory is also backed up with a picture that recently surfaced of the model's interior (see image on the right). The white center panel gives the model a touch of iPod styling to it and looks so good that we find it difficult to believe it will make to to the production Volt.

One second, the first car. Are the rims spinning? Not much time ago there was a pic of this Vette where I asked about the rims, they seemed to me false.

i almost can't believe this car will look so cool, and the dash seems to be preety decent as well, so I expect this to be a real sales hit, if not overpriced. Can't wait to see this unveiled.

This certainly has winner stamped all over it in the looks department ... if the electric drive works even close to the forecast then it's sure to bring GM back from the brink ... I LOVE IT

Nice. Eco cars don't have to look ugly after all.

looks great! the prius is an ugly crap beside this!

Eco cars can look nice, but God Almighty, they are costly!!!!!! I can't imagine what the price of this car is going to be. Something tells me I don't want to know.

I see seat heater buttons... Hmmm. I wonder how the range will suffer with those turned on.

You can get a Civic Hybrid with heated seats for '09, so they're apparently not so much draw that they affect range or mpg. They probably draw less current than normal consumers like headlamps or the wiper motor. And remember, the Volt is a hybrid, not a pure electric.

The white center stack is amusing, but I would imagine it would reflect horribly into the windshield. Wouldn't want to find all those "buttons" you can't feel while driving either. Like having one giant touch screen...you'll have to look away from the road to operate just about any function here (though I'm sure there will be redundant controls on the steering wheel). Overall, nice job GM...

These people are using the movie as a "car show"!!! Ridiculous.

Is it me or do all the cars in that video look like hotwheels toys?

by pzigly | August 31, 2008 5:46 AM
It looks like it will have solar panel on the roof.

Even without a plug-in hybrid, this car will sell very well. The design and execution is right on for an affordable compact car. But how will this car save GM when they need 35k or more per car to score any profit?

Answer is: The extensive research for Lithium Ion plug-in technology from this car can be applied to other cars down the line. This car essentially pays for this milestone investment.

My only hope is this technology will fly and people will pay for plug-in capability on regular GM cars. I'm very happy GM is making this car but want to clarify that
