The Renault Twingo RS was initially unveiled back at the Geneva Motor Show in March, it is due to hit the market next month and ahead of this launch Renault have released the full details about the model as well as some consumer enticing videos.

Power will come courtesy of a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter 16V engine that produces 133hp (99kw) and 160Nm of torque (118 lb-ft), it will launch the Twingo RS from standstill to 100km/h in 8.7seconds and can reach a top speed of 201km/h. Despite the strong performance CO2 emissions stand at 165g/km.

A choice of two trim levels are available, the first of which is the sport chassis option which features a set of 16 inch allow wheels and sliding rear seats as standard. The second option for the more demanding adrenaline junkie, there is the Cup Chassis option which features 17 inch alloy wheels as well as removable rear-bench seats giving the model a possible weight saving of 17kg.

Pricing for the model has been set at €15,600 (in France) and for those who wish to participate in the 'Renault Sport Experience' driving tuition a modest fee of €1 is added to this value.

Renault has been riding the wave of their formula one success... it's proved pretty to be a pretty successful campaign thus I reckon as long as the memory of their victory is still fresh, we won't hear the end of it.

Kind of slow 0-100km/h, guess all the safety equipment makes this car a bit slow :( I was expecting better...

**omission of first pretty

Yeah it really looks like it should be faster but hey... guess it is only just a Twingo right?

I guess for a naturally aspirated 1.6L engine thats great... i mean the 0-100kmph time.

one could add a turbo and make it even faster i guess, but keeping the emissions low along with performance, i think its a nice balance...

I thought the car was under 1000kgm so by the power/weight ratio I was expecting a bit over 8 sec to 100. Well, I can't wait to see the sport version of the Renault/Dacia Logan which will use the same powertrain!

looks much better then the stock-version. But I prefer the Clio RS, when searching a small sporty car

Got to give the French props, this is one quirky looking car. Totally unique. I like!
