These latest shots caught by our spies show the slowly developing mule for the next generation Jaguar XJ. Styling for the all-new model will be radically different, a fact that is hardly surprising considering the slow sales rate of the current generation.

Jaguar design chief, Ian Callum, has confirmed styling will be even more daring than the highly regarded XF. This daring feature is expected to be a design that combines the XF's design with the idea of a four-door coupe. Thus putting it head to head with the Mercedes CLS-class, Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera.

A modified version of the current XJ will be used for the new model that currently carries the code-name X351, it is expected to make its official debut in the Spring of 2011.

I hope it is bold and doesn't get toned down like the XF did for production. As much as I love the understated Britishness of the current model, it does need to leap several generations on to take Jaguar into the future.

it's not a camo mate, it's a mule builded using current model's body parts, I'm sure the actual car will look totally diffrent from this, incorporating more coupe-like line.

Jaguar lost it's way years ago - and not only because of Ford's ownership... Jaguars were known for being stylish, sexy and sports cars...it is nice to see them begin to reclaim their heritage.

Theres nothing wrong with the current XJ that a thorough re-styling and interior refitting won't fix. This should be great. I'm pretty excited.

I'm really excited too. I've loved the Jaguar brand for quite a long time and they've obviously had their share of challenges throughout the years. However, quality seems to be up and the design direction seems to be going in the right path. Would be wonderful to restore these to the beautiful, elgegant, fast cars they were. The X350 chassis is a GREAT platform just waiting for a new evocative wrapping.

Eh, as long as its not as plain and boring as the xf (which is sexy, but dsnt look like a jag).

I think what people these days are supposed to do is just buy old Jags from atleast 20 years ago... the new ones are just boring (and they break down alot)! At least the old ones looks good enough so one attracts positive attention when stuck on the side of the road...

Why's Jag in the Japanese section then?

I've been wondering for days...
