All-New Hyundai Portico Spied
The Hyundai Portico was first shown in concept form over three years a go at the Chicago Auto Show, but these first photos of a prototype prove the model will in fact make it to production.
This full-sized people carrier will fit in the Hyundai portfolio above both the Santa Fe and Veracruz and will look to rival the likes of the Mercedes R Class. It features a flexible seating arrangement in the rear area of the vehicle that allows seating for either 4 or 6 people dependant on whether the center deat is folded down or upright.
The Portico is expected to be offered with a V6, as well as with a hybrid powertrain, and will be built in Alabama.

So, RS5, please stop accusing people of being ignorant. We're all fully aware of Hyundai's "luxury" products sold in crap-car-friendly markets, like Korea and the middle east. Such products seldom reach North American soil for the simple fact they would never sell. The new Genesis is a brilliant car, I read, in every respect -- equal to or better than its German rivals in almost every quantifiable field. And yet they would not sell a single unit if they charged anywhere near the price of a 5-Series or E-Class. Know why? Because Hyundai is an economy car manufacturer; they are simply incapable of charging premium prices for a premium vehicle.
The price of a vehicle in our capitalist market economy offers an accurate value of the worth of the product to society. It is funny to compare a Hyundai to a Mercedes because the Hyundai does not hold the same esteem in the public eye as the Merc -- it's like comparing a child clad in kitchenware to a marine.
The S Class yes! But as a consumer I regard the E Class in the same light as the Genesis.
You may not get them in the States, but Merc has some inexpensive cars like the A Class and the B Class as well as stripped down C and E classes that are basically well engineered cars...not luxury cars.
It's like a Hugo Boss suit, not a Kiton or Brioni suit.
