Mini Rick Shaw Taxiing Folks at Beijing Olympics

Here in Europe, we are a demanding bunch when it comes to Taxis, anything less than a premium level model such as a BMW and Mercedes is considered an insult – but can you blame us when the meter starts at roughly 8 euros/12 USD (Finland based) the moment we step into the car.

Could it now be that the this trend is making its way over to Beijing? Rickshaws (or rickshas) are a common form of transportation in the Olympic city and usually comprises of a cabin made from wood decorated with a little Chinese flare. But as you can see above, the Germans must be looking lower down in the automotive sector by using the back end of a Mini Clubman for the users cabin.

Ok, so this assumption has probably been dreamed up in coo-coo land, in actual fact the novel idea is the product of a marketing campaign for the launch of the Mini Clubman in the region.

I wonder what they do with the front-end of the Mini?

I would say it would be lighter than it looks, i use to lift the back of a mini of the ground easy (the older cooper)

it just looks like mini, but it is lighter than real mini...

Of course its stripped out a bit but if you see it still has full tires and rims 20lbs each or more. Also its still the rear of a mini and it looks like its reinforced at the entrance. It also has the heavy comfortable leather seats, all the glass, the glass from the sunroof. It should weigh atleast 4-500lbs maybe more.

The poor dude must have huge quads, mamies and gluts to lug that around all day

And then add two people to that as well!!

by mortz | August 12, 2008 2:51 AM
I meant hammies (hamstrings)as opposed to mamies

They turned the front into a wok. For all that fried rice and spring rolls, obviously.
