Team Kia Engineering is busy in the American desert. Earlier today we posted spy photos of the all-new second generation Kia Sorento, and now another prototype has caught the lens of photographers, but this time it's something more significant. This unknown vehicle was first caught on the streets of Korea last month but has since been identified as Kia's new luxury sedan, code named VG.
Despite some Internet chatter identifying this prototype as Kia's version of Hyundai's rear-wheel-drive Genesis/BH platform, Kia code named CH, general consensus seems to settle on the VG platform which is closely related to the full-size Hyundai Grandeur/Azera (in North America) sedan.
From the images we can make out some upscale details such as projector headlights, LED taillights, and rear fascia integrated exhaust pipes. The front-wheel-drive VG is expected to receive Hyundai's 3.3-liter and 3.8-liter Lambda V6 engine. Market launch will be August 2009.
