First previewed as the A-Star concept at the New Delhi Auto Expo in January, the seventh generation Suzuki Alto will make its world debut in Paris this October.

The new Suzuki Alto packs a new Euro 5 compliant 1.0-litre aluminium petrol engine with CO2 emissions lower than 109g/km.

Positioned as Suzuki's new global car, the Alto will be produced at Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant, and sold mainly in Europe but also in India and other countries.

Initial production is due to start in October 2008, and full-scale production for Europe is due to start in December 2008 followed by expansion for other markets around the world.

In addition to the Alto, Suzuki will also display their latest two hydrogen fuel-cell models in Paris: the SX4-FCV which uses a GM-made fuel cell stack and the “crosscage” which features a lightweight air-cooled fuel-cell system from British specialist company Intelligent Energy.

Thanks Yoshi for the tip!

I like it, if you look at this models predecessor and its competitions' they all look alot like boxes. Slightly different lights and such but ultimately similar boxes. Now Suzuki is stepping out and going against the grain. Furthermore in Japan, you can drive these when you're 12 with a license. If you're driving at 12, you're happy no matter what and the Alto WORKS package was bit more peppy. Not so fast but it offered tuning from Suzuki for a little bit of fun. Goodstuff.

pity that it resembles the aygo,c1,107 family so much, suzuki can do better than copying. as for the make, one of my cars is a 4x4 ignis and i love driving it, so much fun for little money, and incredibly reliable also, no extra visit to service after more than 100.000 km in 3 years.... good job suzuki, just follow the kizashi spirit as for design, you can only succeed!!!

i think there was an explosion in the suzuki styling department and somebody else had to design the road version. The A-Star Concept got me all excited but this looks nothing like it. Just another fugly tink tink car. They must be on the same floor as the people who styled the new ford ka. Why is it so hard to design a good looking city car?
