Making 710hp

Last we heard from Edo Competition's Lamborghini LP 640, it had just received a 23hp boost to 663hp and clocked a record breaking 345.7 km/h (214.8 mph) run, making it the fastest top speed ever recorded by a Lamborghini at the high-speed test track in Nardo, Italy.

Never content, the quest for more power has brought the Edo team back to the LP 640 with successful results. This time, through new exhaust headers, new high flow catalytic converters, new mufflers, a new exhaust tip, new performance camshafts, modified cylinder heads and new high flow air filters plus reprogrammed engine controls, the company from Ahlen, Germany has added another 47hp for a whopping total of 710hp and 700 Nm (516 ft-lb) . The result is 0 - 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds; 0 – 200 km/h (124 mph) in under 10 seconds.

With an aerodynamically optimized rear wing with an adjustable lip, the Edo team should have no problem breaking their last record as they calculate the vehicle is capable of a top speed greater than 360 km/h (224 mph) .

I don't like the rims but, well, in this case form follows function so i guess its ok.

I like it alot, very nice color and rims. The wing is actually nice too, its reminiscent of the Diablos wing.

Is Edo competition a tuner company for Lambos?

Yeah, but I think they do Ferrari and some other makes as well.

Wait, LP710/2? Does that mean it's RWD instead of 4WD?

rwd lambo + 0-60 in 3.2s? thats pretty impressive actually. I can't help but to wonder how much of the 47 extra hp comes from eliminating driveline losses, or if it is straight from the engine hp.

More than just driveline losses - which I don't reckon would count for more than 10bhp - there's no mention about how much less this thing weighs. Knocking off the front driveshafts means at least 2 seconds on something so powerful. That's nuts! Can't wait for the Last official 'Lago from Lambo before they replace it. LP750/2? I wouldn't put it past them.

Two seconds is a bit ambitious, but indeed eliminating the front differential and drive components will save a good chunk of weight. As for power losses in AWD applications, since horsepower is measured at the flywheel, none of that 47 is gained from drive train losses. It's the direct result of beautiful mechanical modifications.

They made it rear wheel drive, got to love them for this.

I love the LP640 and roadster variant. Now, this?! You could paint it hot pink and it'd still be bad ass. With the Reventon in mind, I can't imagine what it's replacement will look like. Suffice to say, it should be impressive!

Nice, but if i had the money, i'd buy a stock murcielago and turn it into a race car, instead of them doing it for me, it'd be much more fun and rewarding. :P

I LOVE the fact that they dropped the front differential, making this car what some call a "true" sports/super car.

You wouldn't say that if you had a chance to drive an AWD Lambo...

Maybe maybe not...a RWD Murcielago would probably equal my death(with current skill) but nonetheless while im sure an AWD Lambo is good in its own way. RWD has its own direct/pure feeling.
