Ferrari Says Schumacher Not the Driver of Crashed F430 Prototype

Following up on yesterdays Nurburgring photos of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia prototype that crashed with retired seven time Formula One World Champion, Michael Schumacher, at the helm, have been denied by Ferrari.

Ferrari spokesman, Luca Colajanni, strongly asserts that Schumacher was indeed in the car, but as a passenger while road car test driver Raffaele de Simone was driving the car at the time of the crash. "It is normal that test drivers swap seats to compare opinions," he is quoted by Bild newspaper, despite eyewitness reports identifying Schumacher as the actual driver.

These eyewitness reports, although understandable, could easily be misguided since Schumacher was driving the circuit with his son Mick prior to the accident. Closer look of the photos published yesterday confirm Mick as a passenger by showing the silhouette of a young boy in the passenger seat.

i think it's unforgivable to have a 9 year old in the co-driver seat without helmet nor seat belt...

i hope this has consequences...

Shutup already, its his son and he is an F1 champ, he knows whats best for his son. Anyway the kid wasn't in the car at the time of the crash.

He probably took his son for a relaxed lap around the track and then went with the other test driver for a real lap.

Exactly.

I told you Schumi did'nt do it. That too in a Ferrari!!!

by GranTurismo | July 30, 2008 6:15 PM
Who's that kid?

by pscs | July 30, 2008 6:22 PM
It'll still buff out.

Damn, how could they take a kid out in a Ferrari around the 'ring? It's got dangerous turns, and it can be packed some days.

by Tuner_Mad | July 30, 2008 6:33 PM
tight turns, fast speeds yes, but no on the packed days, Ferrari rented out the ring so they were the only ones on it.

Because the new California is such a Piece of Animal dung, that Schumy got tired of trying to make the car look good with him driving it.

Cheers!

by nurchus | July 30, 2008 7:59 PM
Since that Cali was a piece of 'dung' why didn't he crash that instead?

by Tuner_Mad | July 30, 2008 8:07 PM
Because it was too slow to crash LOL
