Nissan GT-R Gets Hit in Rear During Top Gear Photo Shoot

Although details are a bit sketchy, it seems Top Gear magazine was performing a photo shoot on the Isle of Man with a assortment of other “comparison” cars. Although it's not clear if an Audi R8 was one of those “comparisson” cars, it apparently rear ended the GT-R which stoped short.

Adding to the unsubstantiated story, the GT-R with a booked itinerary of appearances, including a toss up the Goodwood hill, was repaired over night and successfully fulfilled its obligations in its impure condition.

LOL at "bitch" sketchy...

But on a serious note, thank god it wasn't me who crashed it.

by nadster | July 21, 2008 8:58 PM
Thanks, corrected :D

?comparisson??

by Racketeer | July 21, 2008 10:02 PM
Lol yeah I also want to know what that is...

by Kaamraan | July 21, 2008 11:20 PM
no..........!!!!! i hope the R8 is fine...

by shaahinMT | July 21, 2008 10:03 PM
someone must have thought that it looks too fugly to live on...

by catchmyshadow | July 21, 2008 10:04 PM
Nissan Ain't Gonna Be Too Happy About That

by milonakis | July 21, 2008 10:19 PM
what a sin to crash that car in a photoshoot

by capiweddle | July 21, 2008 10:34 PM
repaired overnight??? for appearances??? i highly doubt that...

for racing yes, but this one had to be painted... overnight???

by smokeonit1 | July 21, 2008 11:02 PM
body panel swap ftw. Doesn't take long especially if its already painted.

by joe_limon | July 21, 2008 11:19 PM
I wonder if it was one of the idiotic presenters that crashed it? Kinda figures if it was, they are only good for driving things fast on an old airfield with a wide runway, I guess a real road is too small a space.

by Ianmac | July 21, 2008 11:04 PM
sounds like u can drive a lot better... lemme see - and who are you? have u ever driven anything in a race? have u ever seen even race drivers crash?

by si1982 | July 22, 2008 4:02 AM
yeah i love top gear but i'd say james may's opinion is the only one i'd really respect. Jeremy's funny and amusing but he's not very technical and he's reviews aren't always great - he's a journalist not a driver. and i do think that driving on the road is different to an old WWII airfield...

by scuderia7 | July 22, 2008 11:51 AM
awe, now it looks like a R8

by joe_limon | July 21, 2008 11:09 PM
also, I like how it is the gtr that is being reported damaged in this article and not that a r8 got damaged by a gtr.

by joe_limon | July 21, 2008 11:17 PM
Aww, two good looking cars in a crash. =( I hope the other ain't a R8.

The crash could have been worse though. At least it wasn't wrecked.

by Tuner_mad | July 21, 2008 11:19 PM
Two good looking cars???Only the Audi is good looking. the GTR would have to be one of the ugly cars on the road.

by Davethepetrolhead | July 22, 2008 12:20 PM
Id be pissed if I was Nissan. If the R8 rear-ended Godzilla like that, the audi may be in very very bad shape. Fdup if it was to catch fire again w/ a damaged cooling system.

by tiguy2000 | July 22, 2008 12:04 AM
Anyway I don't like the R8...

by lelu | July 22, 2008 12:15 AM
conclusion: GT-R has better brakes than R8 :P

by M! | July 22, 2008 5:57 AM
ooo i so bet that top gear is nissans best friend now

by BabyMilo | July 22, 2008 7:24 AM
Top Gear have top priority in my book, so the tossers at Goodwood can moan all they want...

by LMS | July 22, 2008 8:41 AM
I thought Top Gear got a red GT-R from Nissan, this looks black to me?

by jonzofon | July 22, 2008 8:45 AM
The red one was in Japan, this one was for the shoot at the Isle of Man, Top Gear's favorite holiday retreat.

by LMS | July 22, 2008 10:03 AM
Omg so many silly comments on here about a car that cant be driven over 112 mph ! And as for top gear well if no one can see their show is the same week by week and the only things different is a car or now 2 people on the sofa cos its losing ratings , well you all want your lumps checked.

@LMS Jc has a tax retreat at the isle of man and so do i , thats why they go there .

Honestly ive never seen such pathetic sodding people on a website wank*ing over men in a tv show...

Get a life

by Goldfinger | July 22, 2008 10:18 AM
wow. aggressive much?

by Lucifa | July 22, 2008 11:54 AM
Tax retreat? Why does that matter?

It's a good place to test cars because of the winding open roads and lack of speed limits. Plus it's conveniently close to Britain.

by LMS | July 22, 2008 12:33 PM
Audi....crushing the competition :P

by XXXi | July 22, 2008 10:28 AM
What can I say, looks much better now!

by ShinyG | July 22, 2008 11:10 AM
hahahaha1 Goldfinger you are correct! that show is overrated as for the 3 complete show offs that present it, need to have there pay cheques cut. the worst is Clarkson who should be strung up for his arrogance and complete lack of humour. so not a funny guy. he ruins the show.....

by asif | July 22, 2008 11:29 AM
right... well, literally about 300 million viewers would disagree to that. but you have a diplomatic right to express an opinion.

by Lucifa | July 22, 2008 11:56 AM
fair point. in fact i also watch it too. but i think they are irritating and massive show offs. they over step the funny line to the point where you grate at the childishness..... the jokes a ruined in a sense because of that and the over acting. try way too hard to be funny.......

by asif | July 22, 2008 12:32 PM
You can always stop watching, I'm sure they'll forgive you for it.

by LMS | July 22, 2008 12:34 PM
i guess thats just a fine distinction between british ironic humour and appealing to a younger audience...

by Lucifa | July 24, 2008 12:54 PM
This was Top Gear Magazine, not Top Gear; the BBC Television program. The lads do work for the mag aswell but unless you pillocks can tell me for a fact that one of them was responsible. How about you actually read the f**king articles and keep your comments on subjetct.

by big_himey | July 22, 2008 12:41 PM
Few things to point out during the crash: - GT-R has better brakes than the R8 - The R8 is a pretty tough car - GT-R's exhausts are HUGE!

by Tuner_mad | July 22, 2008 12:48 PM
i think we digressed then big himey. sorry. okay for the record: great programme that could be a little greater.

by asif | July 22, 2008 1:56 PM
Ouch!

by Hardboy997 | July 22, 2008 4:17 PM
hee hee! that'll teach me!

by asif | July 22, 2008 5:58 PM
They crashed the Koenigsegg CCX too...

by carolinaluvr101 | July 22, 2008 9:52 PM
i wonder. when the trio from top gear bouroughs the cars, do they sign something that says if they scartch/hit a car theyre gonna repair it out from their own pockets...or are they insured? `cause if not, i think repairng a gtr and an r8, that costs a lot of money. but in the end, they are a bunch of rich english mo` fo`s.

by norther | July 24, 2008 12:14 AM
...one sided storey, where the hwll is that R8, a car of the top drawer seems to have fallen short on brake power. What was it doing anyway so close to a muscle from Japan car - looking for some slip stream to pass.

It ca only be an R8 anyway.

by Wisp | July 24, 2008 4:43 PM
Hell!

by Wisp | July 24, 2008 4:43 PM
I always knew Audi brakes were crap..

by TSLi | July 24, 2008 7:37 PM
the GT-R did a 1.19.07 on the top gear power lap.

by mortz | July 28, 2008 11:46 AM
comparison is prob between audi r8, porsche 911 gt3, bmw m3
