The world debut of the all new Ferrari California is edging ever closer and the Italians continue to tease us with small details of the newest model to be added to the Prancing Horse's portfolio. The Latest of these is the production of this nicely edited computer animated video clip showing the California racing round a racetrack. Additonally to further whet your apetite, feast your eyes upon this whole new set of high-res images.

The California is the first model in Ferrari's history to feature a mid-front positioned engine, this engine in question is a new 4.3-Liter V8 Engine with direct fuel injection and a “flat” crankshaft, output stands at 460 horsepower at 7500 rpm which launches it from 0-100km/h in under 4 seconds.

The new model is the first in the range to benefit from a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission which helps enhance the performance figures and driving pleasure whilst simultaneously reducing emissions(c.310 g/km CO2).

Keep an eye on WCF as more details are released.

by Discover | July 17, 2008 2:02 PM
It's really ugly

by paaaaaatrick | July 17, 2008 2:09 PM
it's a nice car if it had a Toyota badge on it

by mc959 | July 17, 2008 2:25 PM

Isn't the 599 a front-mid-engined car as well? I think it's the first front-mid V8 they've ever made.

by motorjedi | July 17, 2008 5:20 PM
Anyone else notice there are only 3 settings for the traction control, the 430 & 599 had five. Anyway, the car is decent looking but I think the interior is excellent.

Yes, it is a entry level sports car. On manettino only three settings: 1. Drive me, 2. Drive me like a car, 3. Drive me nuts. For previous comment on same matter I was replied that first setting is "drive to mall" and third one is a "suicide mode" actually.

Damn, if GT5 looks like this, this will be on top of my games list. Oh, and the Ferrari looks decent. I suppose.

powered by GranTurismo! i like the video, not the car.

All I can think when seeing the "California" (stupid name though) is "Hey, ladies!". And whoever suggested it's ugly needs to hit themselves with a stupid stick!

by RobERob | July 17, 2008 9:30 PM
Could you suggest then a sports car which scares ladys away?

by alessandro | July 17, 2008 10:09 PM
Not like R8 at all, no grill. Looks like a Ferrari.

by alessandro | July 17, 2008 9:56 PM
No, looks more like a maserati. Ferrari's are all about cheapness and going as fast as possible, and maserati is about having a less powerful, but easier to live with GT. It just doesn't make sense when Ferrari does it. Not even the name.

Bring on the Dino please!

Ferraris looking more like Masers, and Masers looking more like Ferraris these days!

Mark Malta is right, the video is powered by Polyphony Digitals Gran Turismo 5 engine. Its amazing the Ferrari would trust an unveiling video to a videogame developer. But that goes to show you just how passionate and devoted PD is Gran Turismo.

*just show you how passionate PD is about cars**

i like this car. but i dont know why its ass looks like a weird copy of a tvr. and i dont think u can fit anyone else on the rear seats.

by norther | July 19, 2008 10:52 PM
Bloody ugly. Damnit Ferrari, start making beautiful cars again! You're killing my eyes!!!

Very nice graphics with GT5. Though Codemasters did a fine job with Grid as well. The graphics are almost comparable.
