Ahead of it's launch towards the end of August, Mazda have confirmed the all new 2009 Mazda6 pricing will start at $18,550 for the entry i SV, equipped with a 170-horsepower 2.5-liter I-4 engine and a six-speed manual transmission. The higher spec MAZDA6 s featuring an inhourse developed 273-horsepower V6 engine and six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission starts at $24,130. “This is the most important new vehicle Mazda has launched in a decade,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO.  “Bringing any new car to market at a competitive price has always been critical, but seldom more-so than today.  Customers are looking for that rare combination of style, dynamics, economy and a great price, and the all-new 2009 MAZDA6 delivers on all levels.”

The mazda6 is available solely as a four-door sedan in a choice of four trim levels: SV, Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. It is the first vehicle to incorporate Mazda’s “Zoom-Zoom Evolution” second-generation vehicles and it will continue to be built at AutoAlliance International, in Flat Rock, Michigin.

Keep an eye out later today for a new photo album featuring over 140 images of the model.

The price seems to be attractive. I'm very eager to know the performance of the 6 pot version, I think it's gonna be a cracker!!. Does anyone know whether the 6 pot model will be sold in other markets a part from the states?

what happened to the original rims for this car?? they just ruined this car with those plastic hub caps.. damn hopefully they have a better rim choice with the higher ranged models.

These wheels are ok I think. nothing special, but elegant at all. I really like the reardesign of the US-Mazda 6 I wish it whould be available in Europe too. And the price should be the same lowest ;)

Mazda went about this wrong in my opinion. I love Mazda but the Euro version is KILLING this model. and the front air dam is awful. It looks like it has braces on the front that is somewhat like the Nissan altima. some angles it looks attractive but it doesn't excite me like the euro version. Now that was beautiful.

i agree.. the uk one looks more idk beefy and much more upscale.. i know the price for that one is higher still i mean the V6 should have some of those styling cues like the head lights !

WAT!?! hasnt this car been released in the us yet!?! in australia it has been out for a while now

Why is the US version so cheap and so ugly (compared to the European version.) My dad paid £22,000 for a the Mazda6 TS 2.0l M-TDi and the V6 six-speed Mazda6 costs just £12,000. How does that work?

Wait a minute guys, I can't see any significant differences in this car's styling between US & Europ that dserve to ignite such a debate. yes the 6 is not the most beatiful saloon on earth but it is nontheless the best looking Japaneese mid-size sedan. By the way, what about the exausts of the top version, arn't they nice? (Lexus LS460-like!!)

Exactly, everyones making a big fuss about minor visual touch ups.

Seriously this world is truly rooted. I'm sick to death of the USA paying half what the rest of the world pays for cars.

Boooo USA

SalimAl-Abri the differences ARE subtle and its the air dam and the tail-lights had the diamond within a diamond design unlike what we have here on these picks and the back end of the car had the mazda symbol where the license tag is for the euro spec. The problem that most people have is that for the past several months we have been looking at a Euro version which is beautiful only to see it come to the states changed. it looks better than its competitors but its like you've been looking at a picture of this beautiful girl and when you see her in person she is not exactly like the picture you've had for a while she may have cut her hair, gained a little weight or something maybe that was a bad analogy but that is why we speak about the styling so much. becuase the thought is "why change it" just because it is being sold in the U.S. Oh and Homerlovesbeer, we do get lower costs but the majority of cars we get in the U.S. SUCKS! compared to the rest of the world.

I've come to agree with you DeRay especially afetr I got a printout of a number of phptos of the US spec model through (www.netcarshow.com)& compared them in real to my cousin's 6 which he purchased last week (it is a middleeast model) and then only could see the defferences. The euro model really look much bolder. By the way, this car drives really well though no Eouropean prime feel. I'm still needing to know the performance figures of the six-pot version, so does anyone know please?
