In 1955 Sir Stirling Moss drove the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR to Victory in the demanding Mille Miglia race, the starting time of 7:22am became synonymous with the model and more recently the legendary numbers were used for the special edition SLR 722 model. The Mercedes SLR 722 will be the base for the model which will be limited to a production run of 75 cars, the roof will be completely removed and will feature a small low rising windscreen. The roofless SLR will lose about 440punds off the SLR's kerb weight resulting in the fasteest top-speed of any SLR of 217mph and it can accelerate from 0-186mph in 26 seconds.
The model is unlikely to pass the strict safety guidelines for Europe or America due to the lack of a roof leading us to believe it will only be sold in the middle-east where the warmer climate will suit the speedster.
