A new, high-specification 'Autobiography' model is to make a global debut at the British International Motor Show on July 22nd 2008.

The Range Rover model line-up for 2009 will feature the most luxurious top of the range production Range Rover yet. Taking the name 'Autobiography', it replaces the model previously reserved for bespoke versions of the luxury 4x4.

John Edwards, Land Rover UK managing director commented: "The new Autobiography derivative and additional 2009 model year features enhance what is already, the most complete luxury 4x4. Where better to showcase this than on our home soil at the British International Motor Show."

The new flagship receives more leather upholstery than any Range Rover before. What's more, this luxurious semi-aniline leather is from the very best hides, which, after minimum processing, will age over time to give the truly unique character.

The Autobiography's facia, door casings, door bins, seats and centre console are all finished in leather, complementing the traditional interior wood. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped, the leather-topped facia has a softer, more luxurious feel, and even the floor mats are edged with leather.

The 2009 Range Rover Autobiography also offers new 20-inch diamond-turned twin-seven-spoke alloy wheels, new paint colours and an optional half wood steering wheel with matching gearshift insert.

Across the Range Rover line-up for 2009 there are new wheel styles, new exterior colours and optional wood and leather heated steering wheels. Satellite navigation and Hybrid TV will now be available as standard from HSE specification, and an exterior design pack featuring Supercharged grille, side vents, lights and stainless steel pedals will now be available on the TDV8 Autobiography which will be available from £72,995 on the road.

The Autobiography name came from the idea that the customer would personally choose the leather color, wood trim, and exterior color making their car to their personal taste. Much like a person writing their own book. The Range Rover has always been THE premium SUV for the world. Lets put a little thought into a comment before it is made.

I've got some cool names. How bout many-options,The u-choose or the gotham2112 mobile.

How about a 4x4 for Cocks .

LMFAO. Original. I knew it wouldn't be long till the flames started. However, there are not that many options to choose from. Most of the equipment is standard unlike with BMW, Porsche, or Mercedes. As for the 4x4 comment, how many other SUVs are as capable and wont burn up their differentials or blow out windows because their frames are not as strong. Flame on...

Joking aside , ive always been a 4x4 man but with the working 4x4s = i.e Defender , these range rovers, bmws and mercs all seem the same shape and looks ,it gets really boring and so "de ja vu" when they launch a new model that is only capable of taking the kids to school. I dont disagree they are very luxurious vehicals and very desirable , these just all seem to be cars for people who own estates or big companies , like jeremy clarkson said these people look like "Cocks".

by Spyshot-73 | July 2, 2008 7:22 PM
um the range rover is actually a very capable 4x4 coz it has land rovers terrain thing like in the discovery 3

@ Gotham2112 ,do you have may diffs blow up then?? ..

Dont forget range rover is one of the heaviest SUVs out there and has Air suspension that only works over certain height , funny though when i drive past a land rover dealer all i see is range rovers and discos , so they must be good .

@ Spyshot-73

You're right, most of the RRs sold never get to leave the tarmac. Its unfortunate considering all the potential that the RR has. At least BMW was smart in their branding of the X5 in calling it an SAV, not an SUV. As far as the burnt diffs, the H2, with all its looks and presence, just doesnt have the off-road capabilities that people think that it does. Its a shame considering everything that the H1 could do.

Imma just ignore whats going on between Gotham2112 and Spyshot-73... lol

I don't get the Autobiography name either... And I'm one of the few Americans who would buy a Range Rover and take it off road *gasps* So I see the rims as pointless... I do love the Landys though :D

Autobiography is like when someone makes a book about themselves only with this RR you get to pick and choose the styling - hence the name Autobiography. Personnally i would rather have A standard RR where people didnt think i was a right snob , but then thats england for you lol , sorry ive had a good moan today !

by Spyshot-73 | July 2, 2008 11:04 PM
I know what you mean , even on the G4 challenge the range rover had to be modified so much and must have gained alot of weight. i dont really know much about hummers apart from they are too big for tight greenlanes.
