UPDATE: We have now updated the article with hi-res images, big thanks goes out to gregich.

A few images of what looks like a new Mazda Concept have surfaced on the web. The overall design profile and size of the vehicle suggests it could be a preview for the next generation Mazda3, but only official confirmation would back up our suspicions.

Mazda have already announced a new compact crossover SUV concept for the Moscow Motor Show and there is also a new Nagare Design Language inspired Mazda1 Concept expected at the Paris Motor Show. Comparisons between initial sketches of the two concepts confirm these images are neither leading us to believe a new concept could be in the works.

The sporty design, two exhausts, large air vents and front/back LED lights suggests a high end sporty model, possibly a Mazdaspeed3/Mazda3 MPS. What ever it is, the concept gets a thumbs up from WCF, if you have a better idea, why not share your thoughts with us below?

if this goes out looking like that, all the competitors with the Golf on top are just destroyed...it's just so nice

its looking good whatver it is. mazda is making good looking cars these days

by asif | June 30, 2008 6:44 PM
yea i must agree... these mazda designs comming out now are really nice and modern. even the mazda 6 is beautiful... just the way the lights are curved makes the biggest difference :D:D. Hopefully tehy change that ridiculously ugly RX-8 into something beautiful and shaped :D.

by carcrazy1234 | June 30, 2008 7:46 PM
The RX-8 was a beautiful design when it first came out. It just hasn't aged well.

This particular concept is very appealing as well. From the diamond cut fascia to the boy racer side profile; it's just a great looking concept.

by RobERob | June 30, 2008 11:34 PM
you think so?? no way man i was comparing the RX-8 to the RX-7 which it replaced. The rx-7 was a beautiful car, the rx-8 got ruined. Like its not a proper 2 door, its like a 3 door??? something wack. Also, its under powered, and it just isn't anything like the RX-7 it replaced in terms of design, power, and capability. w/e though personal opinion i guess :D

great really!

by Pentium | June 30, 2008 6:45 PM
Kinda looks like the new WRX, no?

by boston.gli | June 30, 2008 6:51 PM
the new wrx is a complete rip off of the current mazda 3 design. Basically they took the mazda 3, bolted on scoops and a body kit and called it a wrx.

by joe_limon | June 30, 2008 7:25 PM
lol so tru joe so tru haha

by carcrazy1234 | June 30, 2008 7:44 PM
really nice, tell me if im wrong but straight on view ferrari california/599 gtb/scagleiti basically modern ferrari design?

obviously not agreeing with the wrx comment

by peterjames7 | June 30, 2008 7:21 PM
true that front face looks very ferrari

by michelin901 | June 30, 2008 8:49 PM
Looks great. But the nose is way too overstyled

A concept of the Mazda3 for Paris was already announced so this is the real deal

by Ahura | June 30, 2008 8:10 PM
well all i can say is this car... the new mazda 3 will destroy the civics and sentras... 3 is my all time fav. car... its very unique and has a lot of personality.

by desiathate | June 30, 2008 10:57 PM
This is not Mazdaspeed3/MPS3 - there is no spoiler on the 5th door.

by daysleeper | June 30, 2008 11:23 PM
Is in other words is the pre-production concept headed for the auto show. It's a great looking car!! A more commercial model will come up right after.

by alaralv1 | July 1, 2008 12:21 AM
the wheels look very ferrari. so round.

by PotatoEater | July 1, 2008 6:46 AM
aren`t all wheels round........ lol jkjk but i dunno about `very ferrari`.... which ferrari u referring to haha... but yea they do in fact look very round... abnormally round.

by carcrazy1234 | July 1, 2008 8:27 AM
They're definetly round, yes.

by mps | July 1, 2008 11:36 AM
on the first picture (the big one in this article) the nose and the headlamps looks to me like the headlamps and nose from the porsche cayenne

i think its a very cool car - but change the wheels please... looks a little bit cheap

by -matt- | July 1, 2008 10:50 AM
i dont know if i like it or not

by BabyMilo | July 1, 2008 11:29 AM
Probably buying the mps version when it comes out, shocking I know.

by mps | July 1, 2008 11:37 AM
The tires look big and fat in proportion to the car. If the ride height was just a few more inches higher, it would look like a crossover SUV. Those tires look like 17 inch wheels on 60-series tires.

by AG4 | July 1, 2008 12:11 PM
Correction: I meant "those look like 17 inch wheels on 60-series tires."

by AG4 | July 1, 2008 12:13 PM
Ok, all the people are saying the look like a porsche, or a ferrari, why? The car is great, but nothing have to compare this cars, the position of this cars are diferent. The car is very good, the trusth is i don't like the wheels. Mazda have good concept with better looking wheels, but this is my taste... I hope Mazda send to sell this car like the concept and the changes they do don't ruin the car. Is dificult Mazda ruin a car, but....

Oh My God....I Want One!!

by Monty | July 1, 2008 1:01 PM
It's beautiful! :P But yeah, those rims are quite horrible. Luckily the production version will most likely have more traditional looking rims.

by Kepe | July 1, 2008 2:06 PM
the clay model and wire frame dimensions are here:

http://www.pressportal.com.au/

I think it looks ok, hate the back! but the release wont look anything like that, its too complicated to manufacture in mass.

by abupu | July 1, 2008 2:18 PM
Rumor has it that this is just a photoshop done by someone that works on a Russian design site called "Render". Either way, this is a great design and Mazda should take note of this if the rumor is true.

These images belongs to course project, done by Gregory Reshetnikov. Gregory Reshetnikov is a student in MGTU "MAMI". We've wrote about project and events around it here: http://www.cardesign.ru/articles/projects/2008/06/30/2346/

by gregich | July 2, 2008 12:37 AM
wow cool - but we all knew, that the rims aren't original

(what about this?: http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/4923/9080630006mini5l3oi8.jpg )

by -matt- | July 2, 2008 12:40 AM
Cool rims, matt ;)

by gregich | July 2, 2008 12:43 AM
love any car

by jordan | July 2, 2008 7:59 PM
I love it. Though I feel there will be some changes do to the fact that in some states in america your required to have a license tag on the front of the car so i think if anything the mazda badge and grill will be moved up. I've owned a protege now i own a mazda3 and i can honestly say they are underated by the public. the interior is upscale they were the first compact sedan to put a navigation system in the car and it continually out performs its competitors. Zoom-Zoom snitches!!!!

by DeRay | July 4, 2008 11:12 PM
i hope they include value timing in the new 3. the previous one aint got one. am i right? lazy to check it out too. lol. the new 6 got it if im right. haha.

It's a little bit funny, but it is only a homework of russian guy. You can see it here: http://www.render.ru/gallery/show_work.php?work_id=46473&com_start=20#comments
