Sourced from the latest issue of Auto Motor und Sport Germany, TrollhattanSaab.net has posted a mobile phone image of an artist rendering of the new Saab 9-5. According to TS.net sources close to Saab, the rendering is close to the real thing but even nicer. The headlamps will be less Aero X influenced, however, much of the front and front quarter profile is close. Striving for the four-door coupe look. the all new 9-5 will be 4.9 merters in length and receive for the first time head-up display. TS.net believes the 9-5 will debut in Geneva 2009.

Still doesn't say 'luxury' to me. For the Saab sticker price, the competition is just much more appealing.

if u dont mind me aksing what country do u live in... becuase in sweden the saab isnt supposed to be a luxury car it is just suposed to b a normal family car abit like the vovlo v70 (in sweden)...

Most people would say Volvo is also prestige though BabyMilo. Normal family cars are Citroens, Opel/Vauxhall and Ford, although the fact that the 3-series outsells the Mondeo is perhaps shifting this perception.

I think people in Sweden consider it "normal" because they have an average income that is higher than most countries. Also, they don't have any local brands that are cheaper/more expensive than Saab/Volvo to put things in perspective ;) My opinion is that Saab is somewhere between "normal" and premium, too bad the price is a bit more premium than normal..

It costs more than a VW Passat but doesn't look the part - Passat/Mondeo/Mazda6/etc are midrange, anything above that I consider premium.

People in Sweden consider it normal because the car is priced much lower than in other countries.

Its competition is supposed to be the Audi A4 / BMW 3 / Mercedes C, or am I wrong here?

I think the 9-5 is closer to the A6, 5 series, and E class, it is a fairly big car, the 9-3 is more in competition with those cars u stated.

the side is close and so is the glasshouse. the fenders are not as bulgy and the headlights and front grill are different, but yes the final design is very coupe like.

i think it look quite cool actually....cant wait to see the 9-1 based on that concept should be a winner if they don't cock it up.

not a big enough leap forward to save saab sales really, i bet the interior is just as predictable, as per, does anyone know anything about the chassis? is it going to be another opel vectra chassis or something new?

As long as SAAB remains FWD and rebadged Chevy SUVs, they will never be a real competitor to Euopean luxury cars.
