Volkswagen Robust Pickup Spy Video
The days of the supersized pickups is over, Ford and General Motors are focusing their development into smaller models. This rapid change in the market which can be attributed to the continued fuel rises has given Volkswagen an opportunity they can't afford to miss as they aim to overtake Toyota's position at the head of the sales tables by 2015.
The German manufacturer will enter the small pick up market with the VW Robust which can be seen in our exclusive video after being caught testing out on the street. The new model will be offered in both two door and four door variants will be available in both two and four wheel drive. Production is slated for the Volkswagen factories in both Hannover, Germany and Argentina for the world model and we should see initial unveilings early next year before it is released as a 2010 model.

my guess is that a diesel for the US in a pick-up would be too expensive... it will need the bluetec system to meet the US/CA emissions... and that would make it too expensive... but i hope VW will make it an optional engine! with a good automatic tranny or a tough DSG this would be a killer pick-up... but i ihope VW puts another rear window into the robust... one which can be open to have easy access to the pick-up bed...
