The new Toyota/Subaru RWD Coupe was announced back in April and now for the first time courtesy of the road that winds, we can show you the first picture of a prototype that was caught testing outside a test center in the UK.

Toyota and subaru are developing a brand new platform for the new model and with this kind of expense coupled with a sub $20,000 price tag, you can bet the Japanese will be looking to sell a very high volume of this car. We already know Subaru's horizontally-opposed boxer engine will find its way under the hood but further details are still being kept under wraps. Rumours flying around the web state it should pump out around 220 ponies and is set to be mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The prototype you see before you wears a modified Subaru Legacy Body but we expect a far more unique design to be presented come production time, styling cues from Toyota's FT-HS concept would certainly get the WCF approval.

Pop on over to winding road for a few more pics of the prototype.

Good news. At last a rival for Mazda´s MX-5 and RX-8 as affordable RWD sports coupés!

Under 20 Grand RWD coupe. Made by Toyota/Subaru. Quality, decent style. Just hope it has a decent size rear seat unlike the majority of coupes out there. For the homies and the homettes.
