The Lotus Eagle has been in development for what seems like an eternity and the testing prototypes keep popping up in different locations around Europe, including France and Northern Scandinavia. However the latest shots are the most interesting as they were taken at Nurburgring proving the engineers are now fine tuning the performance aspects of the new Lotus flagship vehicle and now for the first time we get to see the testing on video.

One thing that must be noted about this video, is that every second of the 2 minute 48 second clip has been extremely professionally done and the clip has been produced anonymously. This leads us to believe that lotus themselves have released this footage, maybe trying to drum up a little publicity ahead of its expected debut at the London Motor Show this summer.

The heavy disguising the prototype continues to wear keeps the styling well hidden from our well trained eyes, but what we do know is that the British marque has sourced the engine from Toyota with a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6. The 2+2 tourer is to get five versions with pricing set to range from £46,000 to £48,000 and for the first time on a Lotus it will feature paddle-shifters. Production will commence later this year with the sales to commence early in 2009.

UPDATE: In a press release issued today, Lotus have now confirmed the Eagle will indeed make its debut at the London Motor Show in 10 weeks time after it announced a new Lightweight Structures division whose first project is the Eagle.

The engine sounds boring =( I hope the styling is good! It would be quite disappointing if it looks ugly, after all the work they've done to keep the visual aspects of the car a secret...

I know its heavily camouflaged, but there's a VX220 feel about it.
