Infiniti G37 Convertible Announced
Nissan reported today their fiscal year 2007 numbers and all was good with net revenue up 11.6%, operating profit up 4.7% and net income up 7.4%. Good news all around in regards to last year, but the best news comes in the future. Nissan has finalized its Value-Up plan and has entered into the Nissan GT 2012 plan which involves Ultra-Low Cost Cars, 15 new technologies every year until 2012 and 20 new models until 2012.
Starting with 2008, Carlos Ghosn mentioned that 9 new models will be launched in the 2008 fiscal year (starting in May) and eight were no big surprise. The Nissan Teana in Russia, Japan and China, the Nissan Maxima and Infiniti FX in the USA, Qashqai+2 in Europe, a new mini SUV, Cube and Fairlady Z (or 370Z) in Japan and the Bakkie will have its successor in General Overseas Markets. But last and certainly not least is the Infiniti G37 Convertible which was long rumored but never actually confirmed.
The Infiniti G37 Convertible will go on sale in February 2009 in the United States with other markets like Europe, Russia and Taiwan not yet confirmed. The G37 will have a metal folding roof, unlike its rag-top M30 predecessor from the early 90's, so we should be calling it a Coupe-Convertible. The G37 CC will feature the same 3.7 liter V6 engine producing 330 hp as its coupe brother.
Stay tuned for more information and initial images closer to its launch date.
